Qestions re: ORCs. Mods please move if this is the wrong thread.

Im travelling today DRWxADL-SYD Flex Y. It was cheaper the DRW-SYD.

DRW-ADL was delayed by ~20mins but with a 100min transits there was no risk to connection.

However, when I checked in at the lounge I was offered a seat on the direct service. I asked if they could print BPs for DRW-AFL and ADL-SYD, then move me to the direct service. They were happy to do that, but hen I got nervous that QF might not honour he ORC because there wants actually a risk of misconnect?

Unlikley to be in the situation again, but just in case, would this have been considered an involuntary reroute for which ORC would have been legitimate to claim?

Meantime, I'm off to ADL jist to be sure.

I would not expect ORC to apply where the passenger undertakes a voluntary routing change.

Doesn't the re-route need to be involuntary to claim ORC?

A follow up on my PER-SYD-NOU-SYD-PER routing. Spoke with a very helpful agent on the premium desk who agreed that I should be able to select the 4:20pm flight out of Perth instead of the 11:55pm red-eye and changed the reservation accordingly for no charge. She thought that the booking engine tries to minimise connection time, in particular forced overnight connections.

A bit late on my part but thanks for the follow up. Did your SCs post ok?

All posted as expected (with benefits ;)). I arrived in PER for the first leg quite a bit earlier than expected and asked at check-in if I could take the flight before the 4:20pm (don't remember the exact time). A couple of phone calls by the agent to the sales desk and they agreed. This was great for me as it meant being able to get an earlier night's sleep in SYD before heading back to the airport for the 7am ish flight to NOU. Flight to NOU was on a Saturday and FLounge was just me and another couple. Don't think I've seen it so quiet before.

Glad I did this trip. Pretty good value SC wise and NOU was was a relaxing way to spend the weekend :).

Doing all the checks to get a one day status run from Adelaide before Sept 1 when a 'delayed' booking can be taken for 1.5 status credits. Would like to do it all in one day ruling out NZ. No particular Status credit target other than as many as I can get for best value :o. :p. Looking at Cairns via Brisbane as best option so far. Which site do you use to get multi cities on the one day? Tx all.

From Melbourne going to Cairns via Brisbane will get a lot on one day so if you can do that from Adelaide that would be one of the best value options as well.

When you book on qantas.com you should see the option for indirect flights where available. I looked at flights to Cairns recently and saw options to fly direct or go via Sydney or Brisbane. The plane that flies from Brisbane to Cairns will typically turn around with a scheduled departure time 40 minutes after the flight to Cairns lands. I'd perhaps allow a bit more time in Brisbane to try to avoid a missed connection on the way up at least. Of course only take carry on for a trip like this and enjoy.

Yes - saw those options. So the plane arriving from Bris to Cairns is the same one flying back to Bris? That was my one concern. The other connections work - ADL - Bris - Cns.

Don't use the multi city booking engine to choose 4 separate flights - it will only allow you to book 2 sectors on the one day.
But you should be fine choosing indirect flights from the normal booking engine.
Or - use mutli city but just put in 2 flights, ADL-CNS and return.
The multi city engine should let you click on "show alternatives" and then reorder by price so you can choose the best indirect flights.

Thanks. All booked for tomorrow - ADL - Cairns via Brisbane. 180 SC. Nice value.

I'm going to be in MIA in late January next year for a conference. LATAM are having a pretty good sale to various spots in South America earning ~$5/SC in J, but keen to see if there are other bright ideas. I never been to south America, and only been to a couple spots in north america (NY, Hawaii, Seattle) so could be easily convinced to go anywhere ...

Hi all,

I need 80sc to retain platinum. I have a double SC offer to use by friday. What's the cheapest one day status run (or weekend trip - out friday night, back sunday night) I can do out of Melbourne? Travel dates need to be between Sep 18 - 25, or Oct 2-15.

Albury via sydney for $533 on Oct 7 is one option I'm looking at. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Just checking if the best way to build SC domestically ex-MEL is still the DRW/CNS runs via BNE ? I'm not going to be flying much on QF internationally in the next 10 months and I want to be sure my WP status is maintained easily.

MEL-SYD-OOL return for $440 will give you 80SC with DSC promo. On some weekdays it can be as low as $365 (e.g. 19-20 September)

Correct. Maybe my fourth targeted one this year!

Looking into the coolangatta options now. Thanks everyone.

I got a email about a promotion but I thought it said the DSC only applied to domestic portions of a larger booking to EU? If I'm reading it wrong and it's DSC for all domestic bookings then that's great news.
