Agree. I think we’ve worked out a plan. With forward bookings and two in the works if we book flex instead of discount then he will just need a quick cheapie return Melbourne flight and he’s done.

Clearly have not educated the kidlets well enough. He sometimes flies Virgin and Jetstar for work and is kind of close to reaching gold and he’s wondering why I sigh sometimes. Located in Adelaide and needs 110 credits before end of April. Thoughts?
Maybe time to sit him down and have a chat... Though not everyone values the benefits of status such as lounge access, priority boarding etc. Also if you get status you have to keep on flying QF to get value out of it. There's no point getting status if you never use it.

Just looking at some trips over next April/May to help me retain status aureus. Currently based in CBR so grateful any advice on possible itineraries from here that return good value. Same day turn around ok but also happy to spend some time at destination if worth having a look.
Cheers

You should give an indication as to how many SC you're after and if you were to spend time at the destination what kinds of destinations you might be interested in.

Yes that would be helpful sorry. I need about 300 by August from memory but current planned trips wont cover that hence looking at status run to be sure. Looking at NZ or asia somewhere. Did bkk kul mnlrun on mh in J last year but cant see and discount J deals on mh atm. Maybe japan? Maybe colombo? Nou also?

CBR-xSYD/MEL-DPS in J.

Last I checked on the weekend it was $1700 or so for 320SC.

Ok thanks will have a look. Got spoilt last year with mh getting under 4 $ per sc - though not sure time spent in manilla was worth it. Kuta kinabulu was though..

Once you factor in repositioning flights for MH status runs, the DPS on QF option becomes pretty cheap! It also might unlock a loyalty bonus which you can "choose" in your next membership year.

He gets it. Just doesn’t practise it. He flies for work a few times a month. He got an Amex card for points after my prodding and he and his then wife are flying F from Manchester to Dubai to Sydney courtesy of award flights booked through my status. He does have QP membership but SG would be better for him obviously.

Yes true. Although I booked the run ex DPS and got cheap flight up from per and the other one got mh per - kul in y for good price. Cost of repositioning is certainly a factor to be considered though, esp from eastern states

It's probably still pretty good value even with the J earn rates - surely it'd come in under $3/SC with that many legs.

Business earnings have been guttered, too, unfortunately. I started calculating it but when the first two legs only earned something like 30 SCs total, I knew the pain would be too much to justify.

I ran through it quickly on the calculator and it looks like about 230 on the outbound. Terrible.

Don't think I'd want to contemplate taking that run in the USA - bound to be delays/cancelled flights or mis-connects. @serfty might be interested ;)

Doing a 10 segment AU$1400 run this Saturday to Wednesday. Overnights in ORD, MIA, PTY & MIA. Only 480 SC though.

At least the run posted on FT avoids the North East to some extent. Really busy though ... Haven't they heard of lounge time.

I have two segments each of Sat and Sun, one each Mon and Tue with a 4 segment east to west coast dash Wednesday

Enjoy. Personally I'd still prefer to do MEL-BNE-CNS return in J on a DSC promo even though it would cost about 50% more than what you're doing.
