Wonder if anything could be nested inside that? I don't know MH's route map vs QFSC sweet spots well enough.

Generally (DPS-KUL notwithstanding) the best MH runs are those that transit KUL, as opposed to commencing there.

The best value MH fares usually have 2nt min stay req so I'd suggest looking at UL/QR for nesting. MH will check you through on different itineraries too despite no longer being required to do so by Oneworld.

And I've just booked BKK-xKUL-HYD/BOM-xKUL-BKK for circa $622 and 240 SCs. The 5.05pm departure ex-BKK on some days has the A333 with new suites.

Interesting. I'll check it out. I was looking at Hyatt City of Dreams but it's about $200 a night which for nine hours is really ridiculous.

Thanks, I have a trip to Banda Aceh in November so I think I will book DPS-KUL-LGK return and KNO-KUL-LGK one way. That should net me 260SC for about $370. Unless anyone can think of some better value options? (I am only starting in DPS as it seems the best value)

Have a play around with SYD-xMEL-DPS on QF J. Not sure if you will find anything pre 31 July but I booked late Aug/early Sep last week - $1650 for 320SC.

Probably about the best value you'll find ex SYD, unless you'd consider an award flight to Asia and some MH status runs.

I'm not sure if the BKK MH sale is still running but BKK-xKUL-NRT RT would get you to 280SC.

Other possibilities are BKK to LGK, CMB, HKG, DPS, etc for 200-240 SC if you can make up the shortfall elsewhere.

Great! Will look at those...One more silly question, do you book this with MH using QF FF number, or does it need to be booked through QF? As codeshare?

You can book with MH directly - just attach your QFF number to the booking. (this applies for all Oneworld airlines)

I'm looking for some help to do a status run to earn 290 SC before 31JUL.

You'll struggle to get anything for less than $8 per SC out of SYD domestically. SYD-AKL or CHC would yield 160 return for around $700 in J.
SYD-xBNE-CNS or SYD-xBNE-DRW are under $10 per SC.

As other suggested, you might get SYD-DPS return in J for around $2k during that period for 240 SCs and could tag on a flight to KUL from there with MH.

If you want to keep your costs down then get a positioning flight to DPS or KUL and then MH Js from there.

Can do SYD-xMEL-DPS now for the same/similar price for 320SC.

This is not really a status run but I plan to book a flight with CX on class I. I wonder if I will get SC for my QF membership at business saver class. Some of my previous flight with CX on economy did not give me any SCs at all. TIA.

You will get SCs at the Business class rate. This table shows which fare classes earn and includes I. You must have booked an economy fare not in an eligible fare class listed if you didn't get SCs.
