Of the 220 already earned, how many were on QF/JQ? (loyalty bonus could come into play)

Have you done the min 4 QF/JQ flights?

And how much international travel do you intend to do on Oneworld partners next year? QC may be a better value proposition.

Yep, done the minimum hops on QF metal. 190/220 were on QF, 15 each way to KUL via MH. Quite a bit of international, got DXB, LHR and Asian capitals at the very minimum as well as domestic travel next year, SG will be worth it for sure :) More than happy to use the 50SC loyalty bonus.

Thanks!

I think the SYD-xMEL-DPS on QF and then DPS-KUL on MH is the best way to go. You'll end up with 710SC if you use the loyalty bonus.

Wouldn't it be 810SC with bonus? 640 for the QF sectors with DSC, 120SC on MH and 50SC loyalty.

No mention of DSC. Jimmy currently has 220 SC, 190 of which on QF.

SYD-xMEL-DPS is 320SC, takes QF SC to 510 (unlocks loyalty bonus) and total to 540 SC.
+ 50SC loyalty bonus = 590 SC
+ 120SC MH = 710SC

yes, that sounds about right. ridiculous how expedia has the itinerary at around 3k, but booking direct with QF is 8.7k. can't even claim the price promise :(

Both sound too expensive. Depending on dates you should be able to get it down to ~2.5k, have a chat to a TA.

Other option is Y to BKK (or points) and the BKK-HKG RT x 3 for $1500

thanks for your insight, much appreciated (my wallet says so too!)

will explore both options and get back to you. again, thanks for your input! (also, thanks for the MH tables ;) )

EDIT: I've been quoted 2.8k, running from 5-8th September. Unfortunately, time is not something on my side as I have work and study commitments and my review is in November.

Hello folks,
With lots of likely foreign SC earn, rather than the usual “I need x SC to retain”, I’m looking for squiggles*. Any suggestions on cheapest QF or JQ flights generally from pretty much anywhere East Coast? I have lots of time up my sleeve; actually planning ahead for my next membership year.
Are shortest flights on QF Link cheap or best just find a good sale fare on major competition routes? Thanks for any suggestions.

*The mandatory 4 flights on QF/JQ indicated by ~
OOL-SYD-MEL return would get the 4 squiggles and would be close to cheapest.

AVV-ADL on JQ currently on sale for $35 + $40 for bundle.

SYD-OOL on JQ currently on sale for $45 + $40 for bundle.

Thanks JohnK, that SYD-OOL special looks good. And I do want to head there to play golf at Arundel Hills now that it’s opened tee times to the public and also to get out to Kooralbyn to check out the changes there.

Does any one know any good value paid status runs exPER?

My mum is 180SC's short of retaining SG and lives in Perth. (Membership renewal late September).

Is 180SC's exPER, for around $1,000 doable without DSC promotions? or am I just dreaming?

Many thanks.

PER-xSYD/MEL-CNS in Flex Y gets 140SC for $910 - your Mum doesn't have a loyalty bonus close, does she?

Max fare on JET* to DPS is worth 100SC. Make sure you check two one ways as well as RT.
From DPS you have Jet* Asia and MH. Maybe one way to BKK/HKT/CMB in Y and return in J?

QF to SIN is likely only available as 25 SC due to the cost of the flex fare.

Happy wandering
Fred

What is you timeframe?
MH have some great fares DPS-KUL-LGK in J for instance for around $400. That will get you 200SC’s. Just need a cheap flight PER-DPS. JQ starter fare can be found for around $400 but you won’t get any SC’s with that.

Unfortunately not, the 180SC's needed factors in the additional 50SC's from loyalty bonus.
Is MH/JQ between Australia/Asia the only value flights nowadays? She's not too keen on flying to DPS.

Well if you are willing to "throw away" the positioning flight there is always Air Asia to KUL and SCOOT to SIN (and beyond). Get much better J flights with the positioning.

Just wandering

Hi all.

Trying to hit gold for the first time. Just need 130 more before September 30. Need some assistance finding the cheapest way to attain gold.
Here’s my situation:
I currently have 570 status credits.
410 of those are on eligible QF and JQ flights…. So need 90 to get +50 status credit bonus. (IE 500 status = 50 bonus).

Therefore if I do 90 points on QF or JQ I will make it to 720, and therefore claim my gold.

Alternative would be to find 130 on partner airlines ex MEL, but feeling like chasing the 90 on QF and JQ a better option.

Need thoughts on cheapest fares ex MEL to get my 90 points. Fairly flexible with dates between now and Sept 30. Though no specific reasons to go to any particular destinations. Really looking for dirt cheap here/as cheap as possible. Trying to get it for under $400 – but maybe I’m dreaming.

Thank you all!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but $400 is simply not achievable for either 90 QF SC or 130 OW SC, unless you have a DSC or +50% SC offer available, or have existing travel planned to somewhere in SE Asia with time for a side trip.

You could try MEL-BNE-CNS on a Flexi fare for 30+30 and then return on red e-Deal for 15+15 to get your 90, but it will cost more than $400. At a cheap rate, possibly $600-$800 return (?).
