A newbie to status runs within the U.S., but hopefully someone can help - I need to pick up about 180 SC's while getting from Dulles to Los Angeles - does anyone have any suggestions?
I find 2 ways easiest - just try AA American site and find the most ridiculous option they offer (obviously in ‘First’) and see whether that’s enough (you’ll need at least 2 stopovers) or try multi-city something like Dulles-Miami-Chicago-LAX.

Hi all, I am 100 status credits from Silver (big deal, i know right)

My rollover date is May 31

Given I have NO time off or leave until April 23, What are my options making silver AND under 1500 flights and accom? Looking at between 23rd, back on 27th, domestic or nearby O/S.

Well I mean I'll get another holiday out of it...also - "Why climb a mountain? Because it's there!"

Purchase Qantas Club membership and a return economy flight to wherever you'd like to go on holiday.

Silver is not worth forking out money for unless you have dozens of international economy flights in your upcoming membership year (and even then, it's debatable)

I'm really just seeing if it's achievable right now

Yes, it is easily achievable.

MEL-xBNE-CNS return in Flex Y nets 120SC for about $1000. You can do it in a single day to save on accommodation costs.

But I really can't stress enough how little value there is in the Silver QFF tier - it's barely worth spending $100 on, let alone $1000.

If it's really burning a hole in your pocket, donate $900 to charity and purchase a silver bag tag and lounge pass on eBay with the leftovers.

Actually this could be a good idea - I've got Easter coming up, I could certainly book a 2 day trip to Cairns

A plus bundle one way and max the other on JQ between MEL and DPS/or/SIN would also work and should be well under $1000. Needs to be in early May as the last weekend in April is "booked"

Happy wandering

Hey AFF members,

QF Gold here, currently on 140 SCs. Have another 9 Intl. Y. flights w/ QF booked through till August 2019 and all booked during DSC period. So I'm sure I will retain Gold this year.

I'm looking to get into Platinum this year. I'm relying on another DSC from QF and happy to spend upto AU$2000 on status runs.

Route suggestions please?

so far I have scouted the following :

1. DRW-BNE-SYD-WLG-SYD-BNE-DRW at AU$2600 - 400 SCs when booked normally, double during DSC. All J fares
2. ADL-BNE-MEL-SYD-NOU-SYD-MEL-BNE-ADL at around AU$3000 - 480 SC's. All J fares

Any other cost effective suggestions please?

There's a lot of boarding and disembarking there which takes its toll. If you're willing to spend $2600, I'd be looking at PER-xSYD-DPS return which is 400 without DSCs. For example, 10 August out and 15 August back (random dates; there doesn't appear to be a minimum stay) for $2552. That's four decent flights on flat beds. Jakarta is about $300 more for the same number of SCs.

I would agree with @Danger, look at DPS

We are doing NTL-BNE-SYD-DPS return for 700SCs (as part of double)

NTL-BNE in Y as on Dash8, the rest in J. Nice comfy sleepers on the A330

Well surely the problem here is that the price of these runs will likely change during the next DSC ?

Thank you for your response. Yes, Some prices vary during DSC’s.

However I noticed that the DRW-WLG and return route doesn’t vary much. It’s usually around 2500-2600 mark maximum or 2000-2100 minimum. Hopefully it stays the same :)

That’s a good idea. If you don’t mind me asking, how much were the tickets?

Thanks for the tip.

Agree that there is a lot if embark and disembark in this iternary. I’ll take a look at the Jakarta option as well.
