I will be 50sc short this year of retaining Gold. Any suggestions for status runs out of NTL? Happy to take a positioning flight somewhere or drive to SYD if required but would love to avoid.

Thanks will investigate

Just booked the AKL-DRW run. $1572AUD in total, will land me 640SC at $2.45/SC

Other costs: Positioning to AKL for $99NZD return and one night in DRW somewhere.

Happy days.

Not much good for us here in Australia but UL has some pretty good J fares AUH-CMB-CGK return for $888. Would earn 320SC’s

I was having a peak at this yesterday and seemed wide open throughout the DSC window. This morning however it looks to have jumped up to around $AUD2300.

Hope I didnt jinx it!

Though I do recall seeing something on the NZ site saying "Global Sale ends midnight 19th February" - suspect that the ship has sailed

Yep you are correct I don't - my thinking was entering the new year with no status means no lounge access but travelling J will negate that so thank you, my vision has now changed - less pressure, plenty of time, less risk and 2 WP years - cheers

sbor90 I really like this approach - its taken me 20 years to get the 11,693 (LTS) 80% domestic Y - hard yards
Haven't flow much for the past 4 years and want to make a push for LTG over the next 12 months or so
QF status reset date March 31st 2019 current SCs 0 Current flights 0

Reading recent entries within this thread and the status run thread I assume I wait till the next DSC prob Feb and book the above 920 SC run then spend my next status year going WP to reach LTG

A couple of Qs
1. Is it worth waiting for the next DSC or will by then the SYD-MEL-DPS (currently around $2k AUD RT ) increase as I only have till March 31st?
2. Is it worth booking the DPS-xKUL-MNL now for late March or in your experience will those sub $1k return fares be around then?
3 The other 20% earned through YUPP AA fares from HNL years ago so that was my initial thoughts but things have changed on AA and real J seems much easier o the body - comfort runs :)

any suggestions appreciated

sbor90 thanks again for your advice last year - it looks like its still the value SC run for me just checking in to see if this is this still your view before I book

Glad I could help! The DPS run is still good value. You might consider repositioning to CBR for CBR-SYD/MEL-MEL/SYD-DPS which is 800 SC for ~$2.2k, otherwise the previously suggested 640 SC run is also good.

really - I travel Canberra every 2 weeks! thanks again

Hi all, any suggestions for a reasonable SR ex SYD... I did the NOU trip last year but it looks like they have shut this one down? Need approx 340 SCs to retain WP but if I end up with a few more all good...

SYD-BNE-CNS return in Flex economy will get you 200SC for approx $750.
Could do that twice, or even reduce one of the legs to a cheaper fare (cheaper price) and still get 350SC.

Newb here.. need 500 status credits from Melbourne.. whats the best options.. appreciate your assistance!

The Denpasar run seems to be the way to go. You'd easily cover the 500 status credits by booking business class MEL-DPS direct outbound and returning DPS-SYD-MEL.

Is booking MEL-DPS-MEL as two one-ways for a same-day turnaround going to be an issue? I know it's a little more expensive but wanting to minimise time away.

Someone more experienced should weigh in, but id try linking your bookings once bought if indeed you need to buy two one ways

Why do you need to buy two one-ways? The DPS flights are priced as one-way anyway; a return trip should just be the sum of the two directions.

Personally I would not try to do a same-day turnaround at DPS though with just ~1 hour between flights.

I can't seem to book it on one ticket, maybe QF disallows such a short time between the two legs?

I'd prefer not to overnight so the best I've been able to come up with so far is MEL-SYD-OOL rt. Tried a few NZ permutations but couldn't come up with anything that didn't involve overnighting.

Can you get an Australia departure that arrives early next morning, and then departs later in the day but on a different date to the departure?

Never done a Status Run myself but have entertained myself living vicariously through others reading through this and a few other threads and I believe it was mentioned before that OOL is dicey on actual timing and availability of flights, but I'm not sure how you'd check that (I guess it is just from experience?). Particularly for a one day itinerary where OOL is the turnaround point, that would have me a bit nervous. I wonder if others could confirm or deny, and I wonder if CNS would be a better point to turn around? (Based not on anything but the increased SC earn flying that route).

I managed to try a few different permutations on the QF website:

MEL-SYD-OOL-SYD-MEL: 40 SCs (80 after DSC) for $683 (cheapest fares)
MEL-BNE-CNS-BNE-MEL: 60 SCs (120 after DSC) for $814 (cheapest fares)

Of course travel times need to be taken into account but that gives the OOL route ~$8.50/SC and CNS ~$6.80/SC which are not great numbers from what I have seen. Still must be better under DSC than any non-DSC opportunities out there.

Ah, I see. There's probably a good reason they don't allow this - I don't think it's possible to make this connection!
