Hi, just wanted to make sure, if I am flying Sydney to Alice Springs via Adelaide, do I get SC for each flight?

Sorry if this is really basic question, thanks!
Yes if the flights have different flight numbers then you will get SCs for SYD-ADL and ADL-ASP separately, if it is the one flight number then you will get SCs for SYD-ASP

Flying indirect is a typical component of a status run as most people seek to maximise within reason the SC per $ spent. Depending on the route flying indirect can cost a similar amount to flying direct and yet earn significantly more SC.

41,500 points + $174 per passenger = 164 SC (during DSC)

Was going to book SYD-ASP anyway, which is in the same 1201-2400mi bracket as the above itinerary - so no additional points incurred, just some extra taxes and a few more hours in the air. If the same crew are operating QF1516 and QF1517 we'll probably get a few weird looks!

For those based in Sydney looking to book classic award status runs, SYD-MEL-CBR-MEL-x is a great hairpin to get to your final destination, the 7am SYD-MEL A330 flight usually has J awards, and you get to Melbourne at 1pm which leaves plenty of afternoon options open.

Nice. If I had Points Club something like this would have been quite tempting.

Just to check I did not miss anything, how did you get to 164sc?

I thought the first 3 are all 16sc each and the MEL to ASP is 24sc? That would be (16+16+16+24)*2=144sc?

This question comes up every time I post Points Club SC calculations 😂

Edit: removed some details to keep things the way they are.

Has any one spotted a good earner out of Brisbane. I have searched and can't seem to do better than $10 per SC.
Out and back in the same day or overnight would be OK.

@sudoer thanks for sharing, I tend not to use miles for domestic travel however I had taken about 3 in the past 12 months and SCs posted at the same rate you indicated. Sadly 2 of these are a reminder of my last international flight as they are the outbound and inbound domestic connections.

You won't get to P1 in a hurry but BNE-ROK-MKY is cheap at $3.48/SC in economy.

Is that a paid fare or reward? It’s 8000 pts + $60 for 14 SCs with PC. That’s the same points and only $22 more than BNE-MKY Non-stop.

I need to be in MKY soon, so will investigate more. Lot‘s of BNE-TSV-MKY option (for more pts / $). Not a lot through ROK.

It is a cash fare of $139 which earns 40 SCs including the bonus. You'd also earn 1600 points which should be worth ~$16.

Word of warning...

If the flight is being operated on the same flight number you’ll only get one ~ and the points and SC equal to the BNE-MKY direct.

That one has 2x FNs and equipment change.

Does QF still have “milk run” flights that are “direct” v non-stop (ie can have 1 or more stopovers along the way from A to B)?

Aikman thank you.
My search skills are obviously good enough. I can get that down to about $5 per SC.
Can you give me a date that you found that fare for please.

It seems to be available most days but here's a random date I picked.

Was mucking around with the booking engine for ASP-SYD to see how far I could take it.

94900 points + $243.93 per passenger for 336 SC including DSC. Before anyone asks, it's (28 + 28 + 38 + 38 + 18 + 18) * 2 - PM me if you disagree ;)

Nearly 22 hours travel, would be a rough Monday.

Could you stretch it out a bit more at the end by going PER - MEL - BNE - SYD instead?

Sorry to ask a silly question, but how do you get it to price at 41,500 points? I presume you're using the mutli-city engine? When I look at something like that it suggest flight 2 is 41,500 and then adds on the 27,600 for flight 1 as well. Actually, after selecting next it then gives me this
