In practice it's actually 18 + 18, so 36 status credits ;)
As I've recently discovered from flying ADL-CBR in award J (pleasantly surprised). Are there any other errors in the SC earning chart for Points Club, I wonder?

Yes... mid-length domestic J flights earn 28SC and long domestic flights earn 38.

I haven't found any other anomalies as yet.

With Qantas now taking international flight bookings from Dec 2021, I'm eager to visit relatives in Vancouver who I haven't seen for more than a year. However the QF fares are crazy for the xmas week to the 1st week of Jan 2022. I then found Fiji Airways fares much more palatable even if travel time is nearly doubled. What I couldn't find out was whether FJ will award QF status credits at the same rate as Qantas for similar class bookings. I'm just 400 SC shy of LTG so would be keen to attain that. Would appreciate any advice.

Fiji plans to reopen to tourists later this year. However presently you can't visit Fiji or even transit going via there, so there is greater risk booking to go via Fiji of travel plans not being able to go ahead.

The calculator is here to double check but it would seem you might earn more SCs flying Fiji via NAN and then connecting in SFO or LAX to get to YVR: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/calculators.html#/

Using the calculator 'NAN' doesn't always come up in the 'from' box, but you can search from say SFO 'to' NAN to get the SCs.

Thanks. The calculator only shows me QF flights. I've not tried doing this before with other airlines but if I book directly on the FJ site, would I be able to nominate QF SC instead of their equivalent?

You can select different airlines from the drop-down box.

If you are eligible to earn SCs they will be attached to the frequent flyer number you enter when making the booking. Enter your QF FF number and that's where the points and SCs will go (in theory, hold on to your boarding passes in case they don't credit automatically).

You will still need to complete any sector requirements on QF metal, for example if you need four QF flights to get status you'll need those separately during your membership year.

Thanks for your help.

The NAN route to the US can be quite good, especially if you want to break the journey (on the way home used to work well schedule wise).

Be aware that lounge access for OW status PAX can be a bit of a minefield depending on whether it’s an FJ or QF flight # (despite FJ being OW Connect).

My preference is usually for direct flights driven by a desire to get to my destination ASAP. In this case the QF fares have made me think twice and if a OW partner airline can offer similar SCs for my trip, that would help in my reach towards LTG.

As for lounges, good if I can get access although mentally I'm ready for erratic and ad hoc treatment exacerbated by distancing restrictions. Travelling now doesn't feel the same as it used to be.

Hmmm. "Get to my destination ASAP" and "status run" rarely align with each other.

So with further status extensions unlikely, i will need to do a status run before the end of July 2022

I have a DSC voucher from a cancelled flight so would look to use that.

I have previously done NTL-BNE-SYD-DPS in J return as a good earner for SCs with a weekend in DPS and on the A330. But with this route now on a 737, it is much less appealing.

I am based in NTL and can take a positioning flight or drive to SYD

Does anybody have ideas on current options?

Well it would probably help to indicate how many SC you need from your run.

I agree that unless a new variant leads to travel bans returning further status extensions are unlikely.

I would not be surprised if QF does a DSC promo early next year. If that happens depending how much you need you may be able to consider doing a few status runs if that will work better for you.

I currently have 400 SC and would like to retain Platinum so require 800 more.

I would be ok with doing two status runs to break things up

That sounds good, what would be the suggested routing?
You’d have to get creative from your east coast starting point. But…

When I lived in D-town I went to NZ twice, just because. Once to WLG and once to CHC.

Example: DRWxMELxSYD-WLG and same reverse for the home run.

80+40+80=200 outbound
+200 inbound
+DSC= 800 total

Best I managed was ~$1,900 during a sale using the same payment plan you have proposed.
