This is my plan from Bronze to Gold. Please let me know if anything looks wrong. Anniversary date is end of June.

July BNE-SYD one way economy DSC = 20
Sept BNE-TSV-BNE economy SC = 20 (already booked so no DSC)
Oct BNE-MEL-CHC-MEL-BNE Business DSC = 560
Loyalty bonus for reaching 500 = 50 SC
Complete Green tier = 50 SC
Total = 700 SC

The TSV flights bought with last year's Amex $450 credit, SYD flight approx $99, NZ this year's $450 Amex credit + $576

Or, you could do this in J for 230 SC's at a cost of 68,400 pts and $205.73 (quite tempting)...
But in the end I actually booked WGA-SYD-MEL-ADL-SYD-BNE-CNS in J for 57,000 pts and $222, as it was better value. This should return 212 SC's or thereabouts.

DSC does not count towards loyalty bonus.

So this should work songo from Bronze to Gold?

July BNE-ROK-MKY-ROK-BNE economy DSC = 80
Sept BNE-TSV-BNE economy SC = 20 (already booked so no DSC)
Oct BNE-MEL-CHC-MEL-BNE Business DSC = 560
Complete Green tier = 50 SC
Total = 710 SC

Is it ok to use Qantas link- Sunstate Airlines for the DSC offer?

Flights originating outside Australia do not qualifying for this promotion, so you need to do a return or multi city booking. If you can do BNE-MEL as the separate PNR, that will be okay.

Are you sure that's correct? There's a big difference between "flights" and "booking".

This refers to "booking". So, for example, a booking ADL-xBNE-AKL, stop for a month, then AKL-xSYD-ADL would qualify if the exclusion refers to "booking" but the AKL-SYD presumably would not if the exclusion refers to "flights".

Booked MEL-SYD-LHR return in Y. Not the best deal, but I wanted to go there anyway. Now just need to book a status run to regain WP. Need up to 320 SC so tossing up between doing my first trip to NZ or just doing MEL-SYD-OOL return in J.

If flights are all on one return booking/PNR, DSC applies. One way AKL to anywhere does not earn DSC under this promotion. Nor return from AKL to Australia. Flights (not PNR) must originate in Australia. Perhaps you are over thinking things?

Terms seem to indicate that a NZ resident, for example, won’t earn DSCs anyway as not an Australian resident.

If I book a PNR for one pax in X class to a QFi destination, can I add additional pax to the booking later in the year and change to U class (assuming availability)?

Aim is to hold some PNRs without committing to many $ or points. Given the Classic Award fee waiver to Dec22 I'm thinking this gives greater flexibility than the GV method.

It's been so long since I've booked anything my memory is sketchy!

Looking to do BNE-SYD-AKL-SYD-BNE in J and wondering how short of a turnaround you would need in AKL as I'd love to do it in a day. I know ex NZ would not be double status, but would it be possible to do two one way legs to have a short turnaround as currently makes you wait 3 hours to fly back.

For the AU promotion at least the booking needs to start in Australia unless the T&Cs have changed. So return bookings it is.

I've booked a MEL-SYD-CHC-BNE-MEL trip. Going to stay a few days in NZ as I've never been there before. For the dates I wanted I could only see legs via BNE in one direction. I'll get more SC than I need anyway.

Am I going crazy? I just had a look at BNE-SYD-CHC-SYD-BNE in J on the sale fare and it came back at only 120 SC (i.e. 240 with DSC). How are people getting 560 SC for this itinerary (as per the AFF article?)

Its 120 x 2 for the trip to NZ, and 120 x 2 on the return leg, adds up to 480 SC. With the BNE-MEL leg, you get slightly more status credits due to the distance.

Thank you... and do J award bookings earn DSCs too?

I wanted via MEL, but it didn't come up as an availability for me
