Only if you're a Points Club member.
I haven't caught up with all the chats as I've been flat out at work and time is rapidly running out. Currently a Points Plus with expiry May 31. If I were to book a J award for Oct, will that still qualify for DSC? Thanks in advance.

No.

Edit: I didn’t take close enough note of your dates. You need to be PC or PC+ at the time of actually flying. You will need to renew at least PC by October

I would have thought you would need to be a Points Club member at the time that you fly to earn SC on an award booking. Though as I have never had Points Club I’m not very familiar with the rules.

Yes, it is determined by status/membership at the time of actually flying, not when booking. I have amended my post above, having taken note of the dates more closely thanks to you.

Can anyone help with the cheapest SC run to get 190 SCs? Taking advantage of the DSC offer? Unfortunately I'm not a Points Club member :(

Probably a return trip to NZ via SYD or better yet BNE either in Flex Y or J (depending on how much you want to spend). Via SYD if you have WP or above if you want to access the FLounge, otherwise BNE if you can get it.

Is anyone else feeling the comedown from the dizzying heights of spending the last few days experimenting with routing to get the best bang for your buck (or point?)
Absolutely, it was sort of go-go-go and get the absolute least of what I can …

It was more challenging for me, given I didn’t have internet until 01/04 .. so I literally had 12 hours to do my bookings … didn’t have time to do creative routings, just bought flex Y fares. Will decide on the routings later

Before the promo I had done the flight needed to retain SG thanks to the status extension. Now I should earn more than enough to get back to WP.

The best status runs can change when a DSC promo starts and then change back. Which flight specials happen to be happening at the time have an impact as well.

Flown a couple of segments and normal status credits arrived shortly after flight - when doe DSC's normally land?

Normally 6'ish weeks after if based off some of the past

Are DSC credits backdated to date of travel. My membership year will expire before 6 weeks - what happens then...?

Yes. They appear in your account in your new anniversary year, but will be credited to previous year to renew status. Hopefully without the need to phone up!

So I'll enter new membership year with current status (Gold), then when DSC's land I'll be elevated to WP. As this happens after the start of new membership year, does that mean I get remaining year of new status (granted part way through year), and then the whole of the next year - potential 23 months of new status?

does that mean I get
Yes you get remaining and next membership year in the highest qualified tier status, but you need to get the requisite SC by the end of the next membership year to maintain Tier status.

If I book a PNR for one pax in X class to a QFi destination, can I add additional pax to the booking later in the year and change to U class (assuming availability)?
Merging PNR are usually not possible. But separating PNR is.
For example 2 passengers on one booking can be separated in to 2 separate bookings. but not the other way round.
The only the merge is to cancel and rebook - with all the risks that the existing X fares will just disappear upon cancellation.

Similarly, changing to U is actually a cancellation of the X and a rebooking into U plus cancellation/change fees

X = Classic reward economy
U = Classic reward business

I was hoping it was like a 48-hour thing
I've never had to wait for 6 weeks, usually a day to few days.
In the past I used to say keep the boarding passes until the SC are reconciled but with the QF app this is not necessary. It is still important to keep boarding passes when the flight is operated by another airline.
Finnair (AY) is particularly tardy (not that DSC acrrue with AY)

So in brief,
* I won't have enough status in current year as DSC's take some time to post
* I'll start new membership year in old status
* Once DSC's arrive (inside the new year) they will be credited to previous year and status upgraded
* I will then have "earnt" new status inside the new membership year
* then get "new" status for remaining year (the new year) AND the next.

Is that right...?
