Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I wouldn't look on it as flying for no reason - I would see it as an opportunity to catch up on some reading or a movie in peace and quiet. My first real SC run was LHR-DXB-LHR as part of a DONE4 - I read the final Harry Potter book on the trip in a lot more comfort than the skan_y chairs in the hotel where I would have been reading it.

Similarly, I was on the CX TPE run yesterday. Sat in the bath tub in the cabana for an hour. Ah... relaxation...

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Booked MH HKG - DPS via KUL about $690 for 320 SCs. $2.15/SC. Not as good as the ones in the US but it is one of the best I can get in Asia. Will also get over 10K points with double point promo.

I will hit Platinum for the first time soon yay!

Anybody know how fast MH post to qantas?

Nice run! I haven't found an intra-asia run with a lower $/sc ratio yet.

Another route that might be of use to some is KUL-BKK (oneway) on RJ in D for AUD $218. Earns 60sc so $3.63 per sc. Not amazing, but perhaps of interest if you actually need to go from KUL to BKK.

Nice work. Well next year it will be easier to requalify with only 600SCs required!

That is very true. I already have a book lined up for the trip that I've been procrastinating on reading for sometime....might get a chance to smash it out now. I also have a few leisure trip ideas during the next 12 months for my partner and myself, that hopefully being Gold may benefit us in some way or another.

That is in Y I take it?, if so sounds like a lot of SC's for that run.

Oh I see, where do I find it?.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Just did, tempting.

How many SC's would one get using MH going BNE/KUL/HKG return in J?.

See MH offer today one free night in KL too.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Managed to find a nice SC run earning SC @$1.27USD (Obviously in LOTFAP). Only problem is that it leaves me at an airport in the middle of no where... With the only viable option to fly the run in reverse for the same price meaning anyone can go from zero SC to way above WP Qualification... :) And 6-7 days of being in the sky....

Possibly going to purchase it in the next week.. If it stays around.. I will let you guys in on it after i have booked it!

Sorry for not giving any info away as of yet!

gogo

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hi all, interested in doing a status run at some point, I am based in CBR.

Let's say I don't have many points (~110k atm) and want to do CBR-SYD-HBA with JASA to get 100 SC. What would be the best way to get back to CBR from HBA without using the other half of my points? Airfares for HBA-CBA aren't overly cheap either. Any comments?

Keep an eye on Tiger and get JQ to match to Melbourne, then whatever you can find ex Melbourne.

ex-MEL to CBR is kinda pricey as well.

a YASA can be had for 5000 points on this route (Tasmania to Canberra via mel or syd). might be worth considering

Are you positive? The cheapest I've seen in YASA for HBA-MEL/SYD-CBR is 20,458 points

Currently 16941 for April, which can be reduced to 5K + $99

yes, try sliding the points down to 5000, you have to throw in some cash but I've seen fares up around the $350 mark available for 5000 plus $126. i think thats a decent value considering you earn 2000 points which means it only cost 3000.

even better if you can get it for $99 plus 3000 net as mentioned by markis
