Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

If you were going to do a status run ex-PER then I'd look to start in KTA (so a positioning flight PER/KTA red e-deal) then I'd look at a JASA KTA/PER/ADL/MEL or KTA/PER/SYD/MEL and then the return a MEL/ADL/PER - depending on your points balance and wallet spend capability of course.

Your recollection is correct on the AFF discounted QC membership.

Many thanks for the pointer - looks like for circa $900 (including postitioning flight), plus net 76000 points (after earning for the flights), I'd earn 300 SCs.

Doesn't sound too bad - will see how I go over the next few months (my membership year ends in Oct).

Cheers

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Does anyone have a link to the AFF log that provides a table of status runs - seen it but can't find it, also does anyone know of an international status run? Thanks

The only one I've seen is the link in post 1 of this thread.

Also check out the AA threads.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi All,

Need 35 more SC's before I hit Plat for first time. :)

Can I please have some suggestions on a return paid flight that will net me at least 35SC's, needs to be on the cheaper side and preferably only want 2 flights ie not multiple connecting flights, I note that MEL-BNE is 30SC's still 5 SC's short.

Thanks!!

MEL-OOL via SYD on QF return. Will get you 40 SC's.

Another that I thought might be worthwhile (but I don't recollect exact details) is PER/CNS. Believe I have seen it for 36K points

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

I just completed this trip on QF/AA...the LAS-SFO leg was on VS while the SJC-LAX-HNL was booked in V class on a separate booking. Any questions let me know!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Looking to book a las-sju sc run starting may 3. How far out should I be booking it to get the $838 fare return?

wont have enough money to book until mid April.. And was wanting to know if the cheap fares have a condition that they must be purchased "X" days before the first flight?

Cheers gogo

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

21 days is what I have heard, others may confirm.

While I'm here ;)...
I can sneak away from San Jose SJC for 2 days 9th/10th May and would like to do a run. Looking for 410 SC's at lowest cost.
Have found 420 SC at $US990 going through the hubs.

If anyone can do better, please let me know. Appropriate finders' fee, of course!

That would be the MCE5UPZ1 fare and it has a 14 day advance purchase requirement.

Code:
RESERVATIONS FOR EACH SECTOR ON THE FARE COMPONENT ARE
REQUIRED AT LEAST 14 DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE FROM FARE
   COMPONENT ORIGIN.

A/P/I class needs to be available.

Here's the routing rules:

The discount first fares can sell out so you should book asap. The rule you are looking for on that fare is:

ADVANCE RESERVATIONS/TICKETING
RESERVATIONS FOR EACH SECTOR ON THE FARE COMPONENT ARE
REQUIRED AT LEAST 14 DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE FROM FARE
COMPONENT ORIGIN.
STANDBY NOT PERMITTED.
TICKETING MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 1 DAY AFTER
RESERVATIONS ARE MADE OR AT LEAST 14 DAYS BEFORE
DEPARTURE FROM FARE COMPONENT ORIGIN WHICHEVER IS
EARLIER.

Am I reading this right, you can fly from LAS to SJU the following way:
LAS-LAX-LAS-DFW-RDU-ORL-MIA-SJU

For the same cost as LAS-DFW-MIA-SJU?

Seems incredible

some of the routings are not always possible due to scheduling and some of them don't even exist but yes. I can assist with these if you like, send me a pm.

SJU can get you 540SC for USD1075.

NAS r/t can earn an easy 460 for USD900.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

MH Asia J Possibilities

BKK-KUL-HKG: 280SC Pricing At 28,425THB presently in D Class so roughly $3.26/SC AUD

Malaysia Domestic J Seems Good Too

KUL-PEN: 80SC Pricing At 760MYR presently in Z Class for $2.95/SC AUD

I would suggest looking at cmb-kul-bkk and returns on MH.

Was looking for basic 'easy' runs (and rounding up the cost) - of course much better can be had.

(I'm doing a 420 SC LAX-//-SJU run in a couple of weeks.)
