Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Yes thats the one, minimum 72,000 points + $440.
I would recommend BNE-MEL-PER-KTA and KTA-PER-MEL-BNE routing as you get slightly more FF points than routing through ADL (and same SC earn) although the scheduling might require an overnight in KTA which looked expensive ($260-280/night at a basic motor inn)
Forgot to mention: once I checked-in to the first segment from BNE (online via Qantas website) all 6 boarding passes were issued to me straight away so I had everything ready to go upfront.
Happy hunting & happy flying.
I have my Gold status now, mission accomplished

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I'm impressed! What's the best way going about doing multistop ASA flights to get the best connections in one day and lowest points? Trial and error?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Thanks! It would be handy to have a peer updated spreadsheet like the virgin thread guys have going. Although I don't have access I'm pretty sure its quite amazing

The QF runs are based on trial and error and are generally available.
The VA spreadsheet is showing its value whilst VA changes over to a new booking engine and they are still finding the "unintended consequences". I expect that this will settle down over time and they will become more publicly available.

I assume that the runs in that list are fly-through flights instead of two seperate ones, for example Syd-Perth-Karratha would get the best value by searching JASAs for Syd-Karratha and then choosing one that goes through Perth rather than searching and booking two separate Syd-Perth and Perth-Karratha flights? Is this always the case with best value, to book a flight with connections rather than lots of small separate legs?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Think I've stuffed up chance of getting platinum 1.
My year runs out on 28th Feb. I need 130 SC's.
Am flying Syd-HK next week (I class) = 120 SC's.
Leaving me 10 short for the year (returning from HK after 28th Feb.

Any brainwaves?

I guess that there could be exceptions to them but, yes, that's the best way to look. Others with more experience might be able to provide more information.

Oops - posted on sticky thread by mistake - noob mistake.
Need 10 more SC's to get P1 status (flying Syd-HK next week = 120 SC's, but need 130 before year end, 28th Feb).
Any wise ideas from those in the know?

Ask them to bump you up out of goodwill - it's more common than you think

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

even the cheapest QF flight between now and 28/02 will get you those 10SC

Presuming SYD is your home base, take a bus to Canberra and fly back to Sydney. I'll even meet you for a beer at the CBR QP.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Good plan, but not enough time. Have decided to go for the upgrade request (forfeit of 25k FFP's) in hope of reaching next level

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

an upgrade with points will not get you any extra SC. You will get what you originally booked. Maybe cancel and JASA?

He needs 70 SCs before departure as the remaining 60 SCs is not credited until he lands which is after 28th Feb

SYD MEL JASA gives you 80 SCs FWIW

Quick and easy, not the cheapest though

The credits are posted within a day of the first flight for those flights already taken even when a return is involved. He only needs 10 credits. That can't be too hard to get?

Cancel the upgrade. It won't help. Use it for the cheapest asa flight you can get for 10 credits.

Probably not nice value for money, but SYD-MEL and vv on JQ paying for a starter package for the leg out and not the leg back? Better to have guaranteed the minimum SC's than risk it and ask for a goodwill bump because you're just short.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Change the flight to SYD-xMEL-HKG or SYD-xBNE-HKG. That'll fix it up.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi All,

Need 35 more SC's before I hit Plat for first time. :)

Can I please have some suggestions on a return paid flight that will net me at least 35SC's, needs to be on the cheaper side and preferably only want 2 flights ie not multiple connecting flights, I note that MEL-BNE is 30SC's still 5 SC's short.

Thanks!!

Thanks!!

Red-e Deal one way and Flexi Saver the other? Or Flexi Saver one way and JQ Starter the other?

If you don't mind using 21,000 points, you can do MEL-SYD in Y one way and SYD-MEL in J the other for 21,000 points and $165, would give you 50SC and return you 2250 points.

Sounds like you are based in MEL? Your best bet for a paid fair is probably to do a MEL-SYD round trip in a Flexi Saver fare. Alternatively, I nabbed a 16,000 point one way J fare from MEL-SYD the other day which scored me 40 SCs. You could then consider a cheap JQ fare back to MEL.
