Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I booked an all U class CBR/SYD rt JASA a fortnight ago in response to this thread:

It cost me 32K QFF points and $254

The same routing is now 32K and $290 ...

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Syd-xBne-Tsv has gone from 48,000 + $265 when I booked 6 days ago now to 48,000 + $341. That's a big hike.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

It seems we've discovered the change to ASAs that was the hot topic of another thread.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I'm popping my status run cherry on friday, just to confirm - QF974 and QF975 are the same plane in the turn around from Bne-Tsv back again to Bne? It's a 45 min connection but I've never had one that tight before. I think I've even got the same seat haha
Have fun popping that cherry, curiost - popped mine today on this run (Syd-Bne-Tsv-ret) and it felt good! :)
After a "positioning" run Tsv-Bne-Syd yesterday  it all threatened to go pear-shaped at the first hurdle with a 35 minute delay leaving Syd but the connections weren't too tight so all ok.
Same great CSM on all 3 Tsv legs - Fiona. "Didn't you come down yesterday?"
"Yep, and I'll be coming straight back with you today, too!"
SYD-PVG tomorrow (in whY :() hence the positioning flight, will take me from 50SC for the year to Gold in 3 days (first time SG)
My thanks to those who regularly contribute to the knowledge here - Gold will be much appreciated this coming year!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Guys when the flight number varies by just one increment on the last digit does this generally mean it's the same plane ?

I'm looking at this MEL-DRW status run via BNE.

The flight from BNE-DRW is on QF824 and arrives at 13:10.
At 13:55 there is a DRW-BNE flight on QF825 so just 45mins later.

So my questions are :

For this route would it be the same plane yeh ?

And also generally when the flight number varies by one on the last digit is it always the same place ?
Or not always.

Cheers

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Not always, but in this case, then yes it will be the same plane/crew bne-drw-bne

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Yes have done that trip same plane mostly same crew too.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Have my first status run next Tuesday as well and I am in the same situation curiost where I have a 45 min flight connection in HBA but I am quite confident it is the same plane.

QF560 0645 - 0735 CBR-SYD
QF1019 0925 - 1115 SYD-HBA
QF1020 1200 - 1350 HBA-SYD
QF771 1520 - 1615 SYD-CBR

Yes it is the same plane, Qantas don't have a bunch of 737s waiting at Hobart to switch over.

I did the SYD-BNE-TSV run on Tuesday. Got a bit worried when QF502 was delayed leaving SYD and then had to circle before landing at BNE. No issues getting to QF970 on time but had little J lounge time at BNE.
Getting back on the plane at TSV the CSM did a double take and looked shocked when she said "That was a quick trip!". Once we were in the air I told her about my status run and she said with a knowing look "I thought that was the reason". I guess they get used to people doing this on the BNE-TSV flights.
Then got stuck in the J lounge at BNE as the airport closed while a storm came through. QF537 ended up departing so late that the IFE had run its course and repeated itself twice!

So did I! I was in 2A on 970. What seat were you on? I told the CSM what I was doing, but I wasn't turn around.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

- double post - dodgy 3G reception -

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

U is the booking class for Classic Business Awards. When booking the "cheap" Business Any Seat Awards (referred to by a generic acronym of JASA - where the "J" comes form the J booking class for full-freight business class) they book as U class. I guess we could refer to them as UASA, but that gets confusing, and we would have to include DASA and IASA a well (and don even start on the YASA variants).

I have seen BASA a bit but normally only at the supermarkets ;)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Yes, choosing to use points on a BASA rate would stink like dead .....

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

So did I! I was in 2A on 970. What seat were you on? I told the CSM what I was doing, but I wasn't turn around.
I was in 2F. Were you doing a trip report? I saw you take some photos of the meal.

I was glad it was a light load so I got both 2E & 2F to myself. QF971 on the way back was full in J.
