Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I have received the DSC offer and want to take advantage of it before June 30 to help secure WP before my "year" runs out ( Need around 700 before Dec). I am based in Brisbane and (thankfully due to work credit card points being "deposited" into my FF account) have pleanty of points to play with. I was looking for some suggestions for a trip that remains on the east coast. Thanks to this website i have done the BNE - KTA JASA but would rather not do this again. I am happy to stay overnight or even reposition if need be.

I am aware that there are plenty of options on this site but i sure there is someone out there that LOVES doing this stuff and would like to help a 5 year Gold member reach WP for the first time :)

Getting 700SCs will require at least 2 runs unless you go to KTA via 2 stops and an overnight, and at this point, I would question the wisdom of doing so. Nevertheless, from BNE, you can try BNE-xSYD-ASP and back in a day. Otherwise, position yourself up to TSV and there are some more options from there.

TSV-BNE-DRW is good for 280SCs I believe so that's 560SCs with the DSC offer.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Another is CNS (or wherever) via BNE / SYD to AKL gives around 600 status with double offer in J. Think one way in J and other in Y its 400 or thereabouts.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster....

I'm approaching my QFF anniversary on 31st July, and have just received the DSC offer. I'm 60 points short of maintaining Silver, and would require 510 to make Gold; the obvious benefit is free QC - I regularly travel for work, but it's unlikely they will continue to cover my QC membership. Rather than just paying for it outright I thought a status run was in order.

I've been looking at the current prices and options out of Brisbane (home base) as per the recommended status runs linked above (BNE xMEL/xADE xPER KTA return etc), but they all seem to have increased in points / price recently. It's not out of the question to integrate a status run in the middle of a family trip to Sydney in July, so am interested in what everyone thinks is the best way to earn 255 SCs prior to 31st July.

I've got ~123,000 FF points to burn if required (perhaps more once the EDR credit card points hit for the month), but would like to use a little as possible, obviously!

Thanks in advance.

If you look back a few pages in this thread there have been quite a few postings recently about possible SC runs out of BNE. They shouldn't be hard to find.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi All,

I am a Bronze FF with QF, no status credits but 200,000 ff points due to various card and bonuses and as we are off on a J class return to LHR this year want to do some runs to attain Silver prior to this trip.

When do the status credits commence and expire?

Mrs Outbackowner is Qclub member and I am not.

Many thanks

Outbackowner

Why do you want to become silver? There is no benefit you would get that you are not getting in business class anyway... and the extra points you earn by being silver would not be worth the cost of doing status runs.

Is your J trip to LHR a paid trip, a classic award or an any seat award flight? If it is paid or an any seat award flight I would wonder why you need to do a status run to get silver as the flight itself will get you to silver and you will have lounge access regardless.

And even if it is a classic award flight being silver is not going to get you any benefits that being in J doesn't already get you.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Trip to LHR is a paid one when it was on sale.

As we will be doing a few more trips I thought that it would help us get to Gold and then free QF club and more bonus points awarded.

Not actually a status run but a rtn to AKL is planned to catch up with friends and use some points before they change the rules again.

When you log on to your QFF account, look for YOUR SUMMARY at the top left hand column.

Opening that would allow you to see something like "...additional status credits required by (date) to attain Silver (in your case): xx_X..."

That date is the annual renewal date which will reset your SCs to nought on the very next day.

The number xx_X is the SC number you need to earn from your flights (runs or not).

Hope that helps

OK, that makes more sense. You will get 560 SCs for your trip to LHR so Gold is then certainly within reach. If you can snag a JASA MEL-AKL return, there is another 160 SCs. Voila! Just need to make sure both trips are in the same membership year as per legroom's post

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Thanks for your help but another question, when I try to apply for double SC's it says I am not able to register for it.

Is it because I have none?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

the double SC offer was targeted - not to all qff **so yes you might be eligible for one but not the next

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Many thanks for your help, I thought it was available to everyone and it may help to have some SC's.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Just trying to work something out given my work travel is starting to ramp up.

If my SC expire on 31 Oct this year, and I achieve Silver FF say on 1 Oct - does that mean I only have Silver FF status until Oct 31 after which I revert back to Bronze FF, and need to earn another 250 SC until I re-attain Silver FF status?

Cheers
