Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Just trying to work something out given my work travel is starting to ramp up.

If my SC expire on 31 Oct this year, and I achieve Silver FF say on 1 Oct - does that mean I only have Silver FF status until Oct 31 after which I revert back to Bronze FF, and need to earn another 250 SC until I re-attain Silver FF status?

Cheers

No, you would have Silver until 31 Oct 2014, and would have from 1 Nov 2013 until then to either requalify for Silver, or attain Gold etc (starting from zero SCs when they reset on 1 Nov 2013.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

CBR-SYD-ADL-PER RTN (overnight in PER) is tempting @ 360 SC for 108,000 (300 points/SC) or 72,000 and $242. With DSC that's WP for me...
It is if you already have 680 or more SC. Otherwise it's 720 which is enough for SG.....or you could do it twice.

I've just requalified for SG and have 3 weeks to decide if I want WP :-)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Are DSCs generally triggered by having achieved some status previously? So a NB would never get one and going for PS initially would help trigger DSC promos?

The criteria for inclusion in DSC offers has long been debated on AFF, but to the best of my knowledge no one has ever really come up with an answer that "fits".

In my case, my first DSC (I've had two - 2011 and 2012) arrived when I'd flown more than any previous year, but I was still NB and had never achieved status before.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Many thanks for your help, I thought it was available to everyone and it may help to have some SC's.

Some get the double status points offer (as said above targeted) others never get it, no one really knows how members are selected.

Ps. My cutoff date is same as yours 31st Oct.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I noticed you can book a FASA SYD-LHR on the A380 return for $1675 + 384000 points. So if you have the need to go to europe and have the points AND DSC offer I think it's a good deal to get WP with 1 return flight :)

Hi K3nnis, could you advise the dates you were looking on this - I was just looking and can't see anything near this (everything is north of 800k points on ASA's) but perhaps I'm searching too close (only went out to june)

I searched for 2014. That's probably why.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I may have a spare day in New York - is it worth doing an AA run, and if so any ideas? Thanks

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

So I just received some (fantastic?) news, my partners work has asked us to stay in america for a week longer so he can attend a training seminar for a week.
This gives us 30th May - 2nd june and possibly 7-9 june to do some flights.
We will be in LA (ONT airport region but may as well see my parents off at LAX) and the work conference is in BOS.
Is there a way to force in a large number of connections, (I remember reading that someone knew how to trick the system into it), any other recommendations? We did HNL-SJU in FEB so are both WP already but may as well get the Partner Gold (for the points) if his work is going to pay for (most) of it.
I need 800 and he needs 790 SC to get to the 2400.
I'm having a look but also wanted to check if theres any tricks with this one (was thinking trying to find a cheap 777 flight in F - hmm coming into summer time doesn't seem likely but I'll keep looking)

At TA can be useful to book super connecting routes, but see the thread linked belfore for how to book 3 or 4 segment routings yourself.

I suggest a drive to LAS to start may be in order.

At this stage, time is you enemy as many of the cheaper First/Business instant upgrade fares need to be booked within 21 or 14 days.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Aside from matrix with forced minimum AA connections which you're probably already aware of having done a SJU run, there's AA multi-city. Need a bit of time to play with routes and need to add in a Central America stop to get close to $1/sc.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Doing YASA CNS/BNE/AKL then JASA AKL/SYD/CNS soon 40K points (after 10K back) plus $500 gets me with double status offer 390 SC, exactly what I need to retain SG to Nov.1 next year.

We are sitting at about 23 days at the moment - i think the fact that its just about there summer time is hindering my search. It was much cheaper from HNL but I don't think I can be bothered to fly back there to start a run...
Will need something sneaky so my partner doesn't throw a hissy fit about it.

Ok I forgot that we both have a DSC active until June 30 (I just got an email reminder) is there anyway to book the decent AA F fares under a QF flight number online myself?
I know I can book classic awards for LAX-BOS but thats not going to earn any SC's
I'm guessing a travel agent might be able to do it but I will need to find flights that operate with a QF flight number and get them to force it in - will this work?
I don't want it to be OMG expensive that defeats the purpose. Trying to get it on my partners company account but there is a limit they will pay - and that is Y so we have to chip in the extra.
