Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hey guys how are you doing?
Just got the double SC offer after falling to a lowly bronze and grabbing QC. (too much flying on the SQ and free flights on points with a colleague who is CL). I have allocated 100k of points to transfer from the CC this week. I have 140SC in the bank, and have the double SC till July 31st. I have time off from end of June to go for a run anytime. I was wondering what you guys thought be the best options?? Thanks again

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

G'day,

Any pro tips for 180SC from SYD?

Got SYD-ASP-MEL-SYD for 94K or SYD-CNS-BNE-SYD for 111K (both all-inclusive, gross)...

But I know you can do SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD for 200SC, 81K net so there must be a better option.

Appreciate any advice :)

To follow up on this, the SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD (cheapest 200SC run) is 407 points per SC, while the SYD-ASP-MEL-SYD (cheapest 180SC run I could find) is 485 points per SC.

Surely there must be a better value 180SC run ex-SYD?

Will be the same thing from the 18th, be interesting to see how the points cost per $ is changed.

Markis has this been confirmed ? Or just not "repudiated" ?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Nothing official, but if you need to do a JASA it makes sense to lock it in Eddie!

Indeed
While redeeming flights will probably become more expensive (already the case the past few months) I do hope that QF don't completely stop the SC/point earn on redemption flights.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Yes, definitely dates. I had a quick look choosing a date in September and there was a day return available for 72k + $534. MEL-ZNE is another option for only $10 more and then there's always the old favourite MEL-KTA for $5 less but these can be harder to find.

I suggest that jeremyk takes another look at Markis10's post and thread:

yes yes, sorry guys I have it sussed out now.... :) booking my first status run very soon! now just to pick which one :) Sydney to Townsville via Brisbane seems good at the moment. especially since I can do it in a day.

re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hi,

Thinking about this Jetstar Birthday sale, how can I make use of it for my 4 qualifying segment in a one day run?

My year ended 30 Apr and by mid June will have choke up ~1000 sc BUT not a single qualifying QF segment.

I am looking at doing the run on June 26 and can stay overnight and return the next day if I have to.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Ric

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hey guys how are you all doing?

Following advice fromt his thread and the other one re status runs, I have been playing around with the points + cash options (realised 2 flights per date etc then switch it over once the search comes up). I am currently a QC bronze, but got an offer till the 31st July for Double SC as per my landing from Silver. (too much flying on the golden goose to keep PPS). I am planning on flying QF much more now so Platinum could come in very handy. I have currently 150SC in the bank. Im based on out of Sydney and was wondering what you guys think would be the best options for a MEGA status run. The options presented already look good but most involve just 200SC in one hit. Im Free for a few weeks come mid June :) I dont really want to overnight anywhere unless I have to but I have no problem starting on any red eye ha. Once i do the transfer i can have 100k in my QF account, but if needed can book a ticket from another family members account and use their points :) Look forward to hearing some crazy routing options :) (domestic, but im open to hear a single os trip to grab me 1000 in one go ha.)

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Token, Sydney > Perth > Newman RTN will net you 240 in one hit and can be done in a day depending on flights... double that gets you 480SC. There is a Sydney > Perth > Broome RTN that will nab you 280 so double that and you get 560 in one hit!!!

That is probably as good as you'll get in terms of domestic SC runs.
SYD-PER-KTA is another alternative to the Broome option.

What did you come up with following the advice that you were offered in the other thread to look at the first post there? I think people would be more willing to help if they appreciated the fact that you'd made some efforts yourself and posted what you had found.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

thx for all ur help so far guys much appreciated!

gizzard - ive just been playing around with - syd - perth - broome - perth - brisbane - syd

costs about 1083 bucks and 105k points for 640 status credits with sc promo. A bit expensive i believe??

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

I'd be looking at buying the cheapest QF/JQ fare I could SYD-BNE-SYD and use it as a positioning flight for a BNE-mel-per-KTA-per-mel-BNE JASA run for 200 SCs each way then doubled from the promo = 800 SCs. That'd be 990 (inc pos. flights) down & 410 to go. Should be able to look after that with maybe a positioning flight to CBA and then a CBA-syd-hba-syd-CBA JASA run. That plus the el cheapo SYD-CBA-SYD positioning flights would net you 220 SCs doubled to 440 which is more than the 410 needed. You'd be up for 120K points + a decent bit of $ but you'd have your WP :)

I'm doing just that run (except already starting in BNE) on the 22nd of June if anyone else wants to join :) Looks like there's still availability (but via ADL on the way, MEL on the return).

Does Double Status Credits also mean double points ?
