Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Unfortuantely time is tight while I am in the US and can't extend as I have commitments here at home. It looks like the SYD-SIN will be the week before the SYD-DFW-IAH trip so if I can get home on the Saturday morning from SIN, I can do a quick run that Saturday hopefully. I'm going to be wrecked tho!

When is your renewal date? How many FF points do you have that you can burn? And are you fortunate enough to have a double status credit offer?

There are some great options around but availability might be an issue if you don't have much time

Renewal date is Feb 2014.

I have around half a million points total but obviously don't want to spend them all just to retain WP. I don't have a double status credit offer. I'm assuming that's for paid bookings anyway? I am only willing to spend points to retain WP

DSC usually applies to any QF seat that earns SCs. I.e. paid or Any Seat Awards.

What is SJU like in early to mid December?

It's more of the question what's the weather in ORD and LGA will be like in December (and for my sake January) if you're looking for the most benefits...

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Not exactly a status run, but are JQ35 SYD-MEL's still bookable these days?
I've looked at a few upcoming weekends and couldn't find JQ35 in there at all?

I've been out of the loop for a long time on JQ!

You should head over to this thread where there is some recent disappointment with JQ cancellations.

Not sure of JQ35 but I am on JQ30 tomorrow

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Excellent status points can be had from DRW or TSV runs in J and good value points/cash spend.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

A bunch of questions - I've read every page of this thread :)
What is the best option for 160 (I an pretty sure I will need 155) SCs out of MEL between now and Oct 31?

I am likely to earn 150 to 210 SCs on regular flights, and need 95 to 155 SCs on top of that (305 total) to get to platinum (and worst case if I don't travel for work as much as planned, 205 points).
MEL-xSYD-ASP return looks like it would earn me 240 points in J for 72000 points at classic award rates (presumably more points / more dollars at ASA rates).
If I can see a classic points award (I can) that suits, I should call up and ask for the any seat awards from classic awards rates?

Most of the ex-MEL options listed at the beginning of this thread are 140 points approx. and I really need at least 160. I figure a little spend now will set me up for first class lounge access next year when I'm flying in classic awards Y class.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Need about 150SC before the end of the year to make Gold - wondering if there was a low points requirement (with a reasonable destination, as I need to drag SWMBO along) that could earn this as JASA. Had been thinking SYD-PER-SYD as a decent weekend trip that I could convince SWMBO to do. Otherwise perhaps Auckland?

Appreciate the advice of forum members. \

I recall another PER AFF member heading to CNS for a run which was at the time good value for their requirements. If you head to AKL, and why not!, this place is a must and don't let the word "farm" fool you. http://www.gibbsfarm.org.nz

Where are you based? Assume SYD, worth looking at LAN to AKL booked via the NZ site for NZD $880

Thanks! Will look into that as well. Can you book JASA's on partner airlines? I saw LAN had classic award availability for this route (through the QF website)

JASAs are only on QF flight numbers AFAIK.
