Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Any suggestions for 330 SCs out of MEL ? I have the DSC (for once in my life lol) so only really need 165 SCs.
Would rather do cash fares (trying to build up point balance) and happy to do >1 flight if that is what it takes.

Cheers

A bit of an odd ball idea - MEL-xSYD-SIN in Y+ on days when the 744 is operating. $1450 when ticket is bought in Brazil, and earns 9816 points as an SG. However, if you want 6 hours in SIN, you can go up as MEL-xBNE-SIN, and come back as SIN-xSYD-MEL. Costs a little bit more, but you have time for some photos and a chilli crab.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Any advice for racking up 70 SC from BNE in the most cost-effective way possible, given these constraints?:

- Cash only, no points
- Single day run preferred home-and-back, but Sat depart/Sun return would work
- Mid-September, so short notice.

Help!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Not a SC run but; PER-SYD-NOU Return J $1700 and will reap 320 SC so $5.30 per SC not sure if that is good value or not, I look forward to your opinion. Looking forward to the weekend with my wife.

Actually is that on some sort of promo ?
I searched for random dates in Nov and got a price of $2400-ish PER-NOU return.

When I booked it (17th Jan 2014) the fares were mostly $1200ish each way but there were a couple of slots where the fare was around $850 each way; so I grabbed those quick smart. It is showing a "Business Saver" as the fare type.

Happy wife happy life and on that basis you nailed the price to earning ratio for relations sc's.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Has anyone done a MEL-SYD-ASP-AYQ-ASP-SYD-MEL JASA with the ASP-AYQ-ASP legs being in Y?

Should it still be a similar cost as MEL-SYD-ASP-SYD-MEL?

Edit: Found another AFF thread that says QF say that MEL-ASP is 1202Miles even though GCMAP says 1156. So that means they will charge 36k points each way.

Trying to get to AYQ from ASP isn't cheap as a separate flight.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Calling for help from the Forum as you guys seem to be a lot better at this than I am.

My re-qualification anniversary for Platinum is the end of November. Just received a 'Double Status Credits' email from Qantas to help me maintain Platinum status.

I currently need 440 points to maintain, but have a trip ti Singapore coming up that will give me 70 points, leaving me 370 points or 185 (using double status points) to get.

Can someone assist in a status run itinerary (JASA Preferred)? I am Brisbane based. Domestic or International is fine with me and I can overnight as well seeing as I have SPG and Priority Club reward points to use.

Thanks in advance :)

Be mindful of terminology; you have to get 370 status credits, not points. ;) Do you have many FF points you can use towards a mASA?

Oooppsss...my bad....correct....Status Credits :)

I have over 300,000 points that can be used towards a mASA. :)

BNE-SYD return will gain 80 (x2 for DSC) = 160SC for 32,000pts + $ which you can reduce by using more points.
SYD-ADL = 240 / 48,000 +$

An easy day trip, and there is still plenty of availability before your anniversary date.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Foxxy, check out MEL/SYD/TSV or MEL/BNE/TSV or instead of TSV insert DRW.

Thanks Jessica. So I would need to use the new system of calling that 1300 number and asking for the old JaSA type award? Is that correct?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I would recommend you open this topic and read posts 3, 4 and 5. Also, have it available for reference when on the phone to QF (in particular, the information in post 4 in case the CSA says it can't be done or recommends you buy a Classis award".

I would look at a JASA BNE/MEL/ADL/BNE (or vice versa), rather than nesting one return JASA inside another. At least with one itinerary, one can claim the original routing credit if there are QF issues (flight cancels, delays, etc).

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hey All,

Newbie here trying to discover this new world of endless abbreviations and fuel dumping! I was hoping for a point in the right direction if someone can be so kind as to lend me a hand.

I have been travelling on Qantas a fair bit this year for work but unfortunately they generally only pay for discount economy fares. I have still managed to accrue my way up to silver status this membership year (31[SUP]st[/SUP] October anniversary) but I am really chasing Gold status before my anniversary date. I am planning a trip to the US next year (May) and I think Gold would be great to get access to all the oneworld lounges for each leg.

I have a flight next week earning 60 SCs and maybe another the following week earning another 60 but no more work trips planned after that. Even after these 2 flights I will still need 270 SCs (390 needed currently) prior to 31st October in order to get Gold. I only have 38k FF points accrued. So my question is, is it a realistic goal to try and get gold relatively cheaply before the 31st October and what would be the easiest/cheapest status run approch? I depart out of Brisbane. I see there are some Asia deals atm but can't seem to find many good earners.

Any suggestions/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Looking for help with some status run suggestions :) I have 650 sc's needed to requalify WP by Nov 31 2013, with SYD-SIN return in Y, SYD-DFW-IAH return in PE, and SYD NAN in J booked before my anniversary date. I'm not sure what DFW-IAH is worth, so ill factor it as 0 for safety?

SO by my calculations I need something that will earn 170SC's. Based in Hunter Valley so can either be ex NTL (for positioning) or SYD.

have you looked at doing something in the states where its likely to be the cheapest option?

depending on the class of fare bucket on the DFW-IAH you will/could get some SC's there.

SYDxMel-HBAxMEL-SYD will get you 160 in J. its a simple JASA that depending on the above point will get you over the line.

Definitely look into doing something while you are in the US though, SJU is lovely this time of year ;)

What is SJU like in early to mid December?

What is SJU like in early to mid December?

Depends on if you are talking about the weather or well priced air fares ;)

San Juan is very consistent weather wise in December high 20's every day, As for air fares well they are also rather juicy :)
