I was on TOS - OSL - ZRH in August and moved the points over to VA.

I got mine at $409 though.

As I wrote, the prices (for single passenger) in this sale (matching VA) are not as good as the one a couple of weeks ago, but still much cheaper than the usual D class rate on many domestic routes.

I too got MEL-ADL at the $408 rate plus a bunch of other sectors but at least VA has seemingly forced QF into providing an option for singles in line with the companion sale.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

After much time spent with different combinations, a current decent status run from Australia is (all in J):
BNE-SYD-DPS-KUL-BKK-KUL-MNL-KUL-BKK-KUL-NRT-KUL-BKK-KUL-DPS-BNE

Works out to $3388 & 1,000 SCs. The worst ratio as expected is the leg from/to Australia but that is cut to <$4.5/SC via Bali. An alternative would be (all in J apart from the return PER-BKK legs in Q):
PER-HKG-BKK-KUL-MNL-KUL-BKK-KUL-NRT-KUL-BKK-HKG-PER
Working out to 610 SCs & $2008 (slightly better ratio of $3.29/SC)

Edit: Looks like the MH flights are no longer on quite so good an offer.

Another one for Dannyism, while this thread is trying to chase the cheapest, this one from me is not that cheap, but still bearable, if you can/want to, QF have this very cheaper than normal BNE - SYD J fare, and by Aug 17, the BNEd J lounge would probably be finished with their refresh/redo/remake, BNE - SYD is asking Aud$499, usually its about $749 or so.
While the price per SC is expensive compared to other SR, for Australian
QFd its the cheapest I have seen.
Haven't checked if weekends have this cheap price, but for 02Aug17, its $499.
$12.47 per SC is $$, but gives people the chance to see *new* BNEd J lounge, guessing it will be open by then.
Haven't tried the BNEd J lounge, but its my to do list.

For Miniyazz, yes, MH earn is not as good as it once was, esp if wanting to fly J from Au to KUL.
Probably/most likely QF wanting us Qpoints members to fly EK from Au to KUL, rather than flying MH.
Maybe BNE - MEL with QFd, then MEL - KUL with EK (the 2.30am flight) to KUL, then MH around Asia, then back to KUL and then EK from KUL to Au.
Price might not be that cheap, but at least you will earn more SC flying EK with a QF flight number.
MH does not carry a QF flight number, so QF SC earn is at premY rates, even if you fly MH J Au to KUL/vv.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi AustraliaPoochie,

Thanks for the headsup regarding MH earning from Aus-SEA. Have now factored that in. Are there any other quirks with the program I should be aware of??

My understanding (and using the Q calculator) was that EK flights don't earn any QF points at all. Is that different if it's an QF marketed flight operated by Qantas? (QF flight number)

A good way into SEA at present looks like PER-DPS via JQ in Q, return = $257 (plus whatever the cost of a 'plus' ticket is, to earn SCs) working out to just $5.14/SC which is very good for economy, or for those in J, MEL-xBNE-DPS return DPS-MEL for $1252 working out to just $4.17/SC to get into SEA (again JQ)

From DPS you can get flights such as DPS-KUL-DPS in J with MH for $384 making $3.2/SC.

Spreadsheet to aid SC credits calculation

This may come in handy for those working out a good SC run: https:// www .dropbox.com/s/soku51a471a0iq5/Qantas%20SC%20earnings.xlsx?dl=0

Sorry I am apparently not permitted to post links yet so please reconstruct the URL!

Usual disclaimer: may not be accurate, may not be up to date if a change in SC allocations, do not rely on it do not sue me etc etc

Just enter the airports, class, airline and cost and it will calculate the SCs earned and the earn rate. Only set up for major Aus and SEA airports + LHR but easy enough to add extra airports if you wish.

Re: Spreadsheet to aid SC credits calculation

Some of the members on here have already set up quite a huge spreadsheet, some have even made it like their 2nd job, working out the best way to show SC earn.
No quirks, either, you just have to fly QF flight number flights, or fly EK with a QF flight number.
Simpler and fairer, or fairer and simpler, QF enchanting/enhancing the system.
You can still fly MH J but your Qpoints SC earn will be lower, flying MH J class.
**Edit: should add that if you fly MH J, you earn at Qpoints SC at flexY rates, not at J rates.**

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I'm back with a mk II... a new record breaking (price, SC's and c/pt wise) SC run.

Same YVR-PTY fare with 14 flights, 2 of which are AA B788's. 1020 SC's for $1013.40 AUD which is 99c AUD/SC or 76c USD/SC.

For QF platinums, you'd earn 33400 QF points or 3.03c/pt. A true points run for those who redeem their QF points on things with a value of greater than 3c/pt.

PM me if you are interested.

With the price increase...

For those of you who can complete their run by 10 JAN 2017, this run now costs $1415.50 AUD for 1020 SC's which is $1.39 AUD/SC or $1.06 USD/SC.

For those of you who can only do their run on 11 JAN 2017 or later, this run now costs $1415.50 AUD for 760 SC's which is $1.86 AUD/SC or $1.43 USD/SC.

According to the Qantas calculator, you earn at full J rate with MH on intra-ASIA flights (e.g. DPS to KUL one-way will earn 15SCs economy, 30 in Y, 60 in J and 90 in F)
However with all oneworld partners, compared to QF flights flying out of Australia, SCs do seem to be halved regardless of class of travel (so you get hit twice with MH in J).

Re: Spreadsheet to aid SC credits calculation

Inter Asia, yes, if you fly MH J, you do earn QPoints at J rates.
But to get up there from Au, you have to be creative.
QF does not fly to KUL, so its EK with a QF code via MEL.
Other than that, fly QF into SIN, then MH from there.

As of next week EK no longer fly MEL-KUL.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

EK (QF codeshare also flies into SIN from MEL and BNE. BNE into SIN EK temporarily suspended due to runway refurbs at BNE

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Ta for the info JessicaTam.
While I have not used it, it would have been a good flight if I needed or wanted to get from ADL - MEL - KUL on a SC run.

Let's just clarify a couple of things here:

This thread is regarding Status Runs (ie: accrual of Status Credits-or SCs). The use of the term "points" can be confusing to some.

QFF members, on EK flights:

* EK flight number: Earn QFF points but 0 SC
* QF flight number/EK metal(ie codeshare): Earn QFF points and QFF SC's per QF earning rules (ie as if it was a QF flight)
* EK code on QF flight: QFF points but 0 SC

Hope this helps to clarify :)

Hi Madrooster,

I was wondering if you might be able to PM me with the details of your run. I will be stateside November 14 and really hoping to lock in as many SC as possible.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

For anyone wanting QF SC runs, but can't get up to travel Asia or US where cheaper status per $ can be obtained, QF seems to having some specials, Aud$780 CHC - BNE - SYD in J. Aud$6.50 per QF SC.
(I am currently looking at holding QF PS for the rest of my life, am looking at end Sept/early Oct 17.)
While I do realise the aim is to get about the Usd$1.05 per QF SC, for some of us its not easy or possible to position into Asia or the US to start the SC runs.
Just putting it out there that QF does have good(ish) deals going TransTasman at the moment.
