Maybey more hand me downs ?

I think from memory there are two more ex emirates birds coming as well. I would expect that they will have the same interior makeover to make them consistent.

The thing is if the interiors are up to scratch - new, modern, good pitch, comfy seats, attractive and clean - who cares if the aircraft is second hand?

At least two of those 6 are brand new though - leasing company sounds like what is going on, and it makes sense with little $ for a big bang.

Virgin J - MEL-PER & BNE-PER from end of September

Not sure if this has already been posted (couldn't see it on AFF or Virgin website, for that matter!):

Virgin Australia bumps up business class

Nice benefit with the limo service at both ends for a limited time. Great use of Velocity points (as discussed in other threads) - hopefully they don't change it!

Would have preferred the A330 with the 60" pitch - 38" isn't that special for someone of my height (6'9").

Re: Virgin J - MEL-PER & BNE-PER from end of September

Those getting stuck on the 737's are getting ripped pricewise compared to the A330. However the competitor does this so what difference does it make?

All Virgin Australia flights from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane to Perth will have business class from 28 September.

Yep they have called it business class. but its only truly business class from sydney.

"A330s would remain on the Sydney-Perth route three times a day, with new or refitted Boeing 737s that have eight business class seats with a 38-inch pitch used for all other flights,"

Brisbane/Melbourne to Perth will be using the 737, not the A330 which is Sydney (Business A330) prices start from $1399.

Prices start for $1299 ex-Melbourne and $1499 ex-Brisbane (Boeing 737 38inch pitch "business" class). abit steep for a domestic flight...yikes, but im not a corporate high flyer or a mining magnate lol

The soft product is nice, but the seat from Brisbane and Melbourne to Perth is 38 inch seat pitch, whereas sydney has the 60inch pitch seat.

You neglect to mention technically reliable.
If anymore of the ex Emirates A332 are as unreliable as -XFA then I for one will be happy to 'endure' a 737 trip coast to coast. Last night we were delayed 2.5 hours on DJ572 after the aircraft gave out a 'false systems warning'

that said I agree with you, age is no factor in how much I enjoy an aircraft. Take NZ's 763s, after their refit they're brilliant aircraft to fly.

Yeah, I've heard about the poor OTP with the 330s. I heard the aircraft came from entires Arun pretty poor condition.

On the other hand. I thought XFA was usually ontime.

Crew call them XFAwesome and XFBroken.

The 330 flight to PER got canned/delayed this morning. Misha was on it as a paid J seat and got moved to PE.

HAHAHAHA! Love the names!

It was definitely XFA, so unfortunately not so awesome this time around:/

I agree with the poor condition also. Aside from the apparent poor technical condition of the aircraft the interior seemed a little past it's used by. Everything creaks like I've never heard it before!

I guess the opinion varies with the passenger, I have flown on the VA A330s a few times, and found them very good, quiet, and comfortable. And I was in the back, not J.
Mind you, all my A330 flights thus far have been in XFB, dont really see that they would be much different though. Only problem with them was the IFE, but considering current install on refitted 737 fleet, its great IFE

Oh and EVERY flight on XFB has been on time, or EARLY arriving.. Just lucky I suppose :)

Only in Row 2, and as someone who has done considerable time recently in the DJ737 Row 1, I have no issues with the pitch, or the fact my J cabin has only 8 seats!

And I had absolutely no issues with Row 2 either, even with Row 1 fully reclined (and I have been known to whinge occasionally ).

I've only ever sat in Row 1 and never considered it crampt. Exactly the same as Qantas 737 J.

I think the main point to be made here is that over time, Virgin will operate a majority A330 transcontinental service (just like QF) and the 737 business class will be well suited to the shorter east-coast runs.
