Do you think that the F lounge meets are going to F it up for others?

Stop the open invites to the F lounge - keep them private and not open to the world.

It may seem it to you, but certainly not to me. Personally I don't see the point in status runs, but then I earnt my WP from work trips. If someone wants to fly back and forth to get status, that's their choice.

I am entitled to use the F lounge as i am a WP and that comes with that benefit. Please point to me to where it says I am not entitled to use it.

I don't get what your point is here. You are allowed to use the lounge! What bit of that don't you understand? Sure most of the flights are JQ but there are some DOM QF flights that do the same.

You it seems are in the minority here... you earn your status the way it was intended to be earnt and no one is stoping you from using the lounge when you're travelling, but there is an expectation that you will be travelling internationally when you use an international lounge. The very fact that a group of you circumvent this assumption for your own gain goes against the very nature of the program. The lounge is a pre departure or post arrival lounge. It is not your personal function venue that you can organise your private party in, with QF picking up the tab.

If you cant see that there is something morally corrupt with this, then I cant and wont say anything more about it, except to say that QF will wisen up to these shenanigans and either remove access when flying JQ (perhaps not domestic lounges), limit international lounge access to only those who are flying internationally or worse still, limit F lounge access to those truly valuable customers that have booked and paid for a high yielding international F ticket. That will truly set the cat amongst the pigeons and you will all be outraged that QF has taken yet another thing away from you, that in all honesty you never really ought to have had, but rather gifted yourselves, simply because it wasnt expressly forbidden.

There you go again, thinking that you are the only person that has a valid reason to fly. You are also conveniently neglecting the fact that the people who are "SC chasing" are spending either money or points to achieve this. Nothing comes for free. Accusing people of having no life for enjoying the experience of flying ... on a Frequent Flyer website ... well that just reinforces my previous assertion.

Not that you care, but for what it's worth, I will EASILY achieve WP this year based off my work travel. However, to really screw with your head I'll point out that not only did I do a same day return to HKG last weekend with no real "purpose", but I'm doing another one in 2 weeks, and this time I'm going BNE-MEL-PER-HKG-SYD-BNE to maximise the return on the flights. Should help nicely with my push for P1 this year.

Now before you come back and say that I shouldn't be allowed to fly because I've got no "genuine need to fly" or that I'm socially lacking and sad, or insinuating that I am neglecting my family (yes, you actually did that in a previous post), I'd just like to ask if you go to a Lego forum and post "Lego is only for kids, you guys should grow up" or a model railroad forum and post something similar? Each to their own, nobody is hurting anyone, so how about you get off your high horse?

TBH, I really don't give a toss what you do. If you want to fly to HKG, twice, in the most convoluted way imaginable, just so that you can take advantage of an offer and score a few extra points and SC's, and waste money in the process, all power to you.

If you're so desperate achieve P1, I hope you make it. It really does not in any way impact my life whatsoever. But the question I think you need to be asking yourself is why is it so important to you?? How will P1 change your life?? If you think its worth it, go ahead, but as you say, nothing comes for free. Just try and think about that once in a while.

You say waste money, I say spend a small amount to enjoy quite a bit of time in the comfort of J class, not to mention a few F lounges, eating reasonable food and drinking quite good wine. Not to mention the chance to do some Christmas shopping in Hong Kong. And helping my progress towards LTG in the process.

Thanks for the lecture. I stopped needing people to make decisions for me around the age of, oh, probably around 14.

And it's been a good many years since then.

For someone who "doesn't give a toss" you are sure investing a hell of a lot of effort into getting all worked up about it in this thread.

Why do you care so much (read: why are you trolling us) if your life is not impacted by this?

awilcockson, no need to justify your trip to HKG. The food in that city alone is worth the trip. :)

Actually you will find many people on here earn their status through normal flying patterns, and not having to fill the gaps. There is no expectation or assumption! I still cannot understand why you fail to realise this! it's been around for quite a number of years! so it is nothing knew. and you are right, the F lounge is a deaprture lounge which is used before we board our flight! simple!

Again there is nothing morally corrupt about it at all! People using the F lounge are purchasing a ticket (sometimes even going for the most expensive) on a flight that happens to fly between Melbourne and Sydney. QF as very well aware that people use these flights, they even know we are coming to the lounge beforehand! And it has been stated that there is no changes to WP pax using the F lounge before a flight, if they did the place would become like a ghost town.

Clearly you have way too much time on your hands to be searching my other posts and reposting them here, completely out of context.

And for the record, I dont see where this has got nasty. Certainly not from my end, but its about to.

You, dear Sir, are one of those naz_s that I was referring to. You think that your opinions are somehow superior to everyone else's. You jump down peoples throats every time they disagree with you and seem intent on ramming your point home by bullying other people. You seem to have little interest in seeing things from a different perspective, because you're so blinded by your own self righteousness.

At the end of the day, this forum is all about sharing peoples experiencing, knowledge and voicing alternative opinions to matters that NO ONE is an expert on. But its people like you that ruin what ought to be an invaluable resource for people wanting to learn about things that they haven't previously been exposed to.
Despite your assertions to the contrary, you are not the be all and end all, you do not know everything and your WP/P1 or senior member status does not make you superior to any other member in this forum.

On that note, good luck with whatever and however you choose to conduct yourself in future and welcome to my ignore list.

I'm just going to jump in for the defense of awilcockson. Having actually met the guy, and shared a drink or three with the man I don't think he is one of those people who is blasé about other peoples opinions. I think he has a fair bit of travelling experience behind him which he is more than happy to share, and I've even known him to listen to other peoples points of view from time to time...

I do think it has been you yourself who has moved this thread into higher and higher levels of nastiness. It doesn't matter that you don't see why some members here consider their travel plans based on which lounges serves the best lunch, the fact is that quite a few members here (myself included) actually like the process of getting from A to B via aircraft to the point that making a day of it purely for fun does make sense. It would be no different than someone who liked to go to the horse races on a Saturday afternoon and take a punt or three. Furthermore this is a forum that by definition will get people who like flying, and despite the number of ways to work the system to get status, they will continue to fly even once status has been achieved.

I would also suggest both sides slow down a bit before a mod decides to put on their mod hats and start changing \ deleting posts or uses the "close thread button" as in general the question of is having FLounge runs going to stop geniune FLounge access is a valid one to discuss.

As a side note, I personally would go to HKG just for lunch as well if I could ever convince the missus to let me go... So far the best food I have ever found has been eaten there... :D

Closing thread for review/pruning.

It may re-open later ... :-|

I agree that its time this thread was closed. Its a real shame that the actions of a few have ruined things for many.

And a reminder that Trolling is not something we condone on AFF. Members who do this risk their AFF account being terminated.

Re: Strategy to get "Early" JQ check-in for International

as if a WP or WP1 would rip off QF

bahahahahahah...... are you serious??

You don't class a "JQi domestic price match status run to access the F lounge for hours on end enjoying spa treatments and consuming food and beverages worth several multiples of the fare you paid" as a rip off??

do me a favour......

No I dont, its using the benefits as offered by QF in the conditions QF specify. Given the definition of "rip off" by the dictionaries being in the main primarily something of poor quality, the only rip off IMHO is the JQ flight :

off ( ) n. Slang A product or service that is overpriced or of poor quality.

I have moved this discussion to the closed thread on the same topic given its already been discussed there and then closed.
