Qantas domestic seat selection

When I used the seat selection for a future flight all the front rows up to and including row 45 were taken. I thought this was strange and so I called Qantas who confirmed they were blocked.

For the return journey the front 3 rows in business were blocked as well.

Anyone else had this problem? I know i'm only silver but I got a better choice at online check in when I was bronze.:(

Do they only release these seats 24 hrs before at online check in. The girl at Qantas couldn't tell me.

I've moved this post to the existing thread.

maureeng, as per the existing thread, it often pays to re check your seat allocation 80 hours before your flight. ;)

That's 3 days and 8 Hours beforehand, so for a 6pm flight on the 10th of a month, fire up www.qantas.com again and have a look at 10am on the 7th of that month.

Well after a one month or so break from flying I can finally do the seat selection thing that has plagued PS members for so long. I see from this thread it's been available for about a month.
Jumped in to see what I could get and there's no availability north of row 41 on a 767.
I think I'll wait.

Check again at T-80 (as discussed in the thread).

When I was a PS I could get myself from row 40 to row 26 once that magical point was reached :)

Need to set an alarm!
(I bet there's "an app for that"!)

For the most part, I don't bother with domestic seat selection until T-80.

I have noticed that the number pre-allocated seats on domestic flights before T-80 hours is growing all the time, then a whole lot more people are checking again from T-80 hours and then OLCI is like a musical chairs until the best possible seat has been snagged.

Personally I would rather have a seat pre-allocated in the 3rd row of economy in the bank and then try to improve the pre-allocated seat at T-80 hours and OLCI....

hi, not sure if this has been said as I do not have time to look at 27 pages of replies but i could not get row 4-5 on a 737 out of tassie in july so rang QF and they said operations had blocked out those two rows and that they have no control to unblock them. They were surprised as beign WP they mentioned I will always have access to these rows in normal circumstances and ti is first in best dressed who gets them. I took row 6 for my family, the whole row 6 of 6 seats across and will hope to snag row 4 when OLCI opens. So therefore it appears for operational purposes they block certain rows at times.
