Double SC promo

So I will only get 80 points if I dont set up a family pooling thing?
Sorry about asking all this.

The flyer gets the points and SCs.....doesn't matter who pays for the ticket(s), so you'd get your entitlement and your GF would get hers. If you set up a "family" pooling arrangement, either you or her would be able to get all points and SCs.

Booked my bro in J, BNE-SYD-PER-SYD-BNE today, and since he rarely flys we are pooling to my account...

Should be a tidy 480SC earner for me... LOL

Edit: Maybe not 480SCs as I forgot the BNE-SYD legs are only PE seats...

Still a pretty decent effort though...

If the flights are with DJ then PE seats earn SC's at the business class rate.;) BNE - PER is 80 SC's each way in PE or 160 with the double SC promo.

Great, from what I figure its more than enough to bump me through to Plat... must thank my brother for that... hahaha

Also remember that with Virgin it is based on the Departure and Arrival location, so BNE-SYD-PER is calculated as BNE-PER. The exception is if you have booked BNE-SYD and SYD-PER as separate segments, but then it is likely to cost you a lot more, particularly in Premium cabins.

True, ah well my little SC earner is getting smaller by the minute hahaha.

All good though the 320SC should still bump me through, when I include a couple more trips I have for work in the next week.

Well that's just annoying. Last minute trip to CBR tomorrow, excellent I can get some value out of the double SC promotion ...

Nope.

QF worked out considerably cheaper than DJ, so once again the Best Fare of The Day policy works against me :(

Yes I have been thwarted also.....although we have policy of cheapest, I have always insisted on QF until I got status match!

But every time I have tried to book, QF is cheaper by about $50 a leg

This was before QF grounding, but point taken

Doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the grounding. Think status matches, new service levels, better perceived value. I think the influx had already started. It just happened to get a good kick along.

Just to clarify, are all Velocity memeber elegible for the double status credits deal? The website and email header on my family's Velocity statements seem to indicate so. (Your Velocity Statement plus last days for double Status Credits)

No, I don't believe all members are eligible - it was a targeted email from Marketing. Some got it, others didn't. I don't try and understand the ins and outs of how they decided...but I was happy to be selected ;)

Indeed, from the fine print in my email:

VFF said:
Offer is only available to those selected by Virgin Australia and is non-transferable.

I believe that for the current offer, everyone has been selected.

No, some members (777 and thegurio) advised they didn't get it, so I don't agree with your premise

Australian Business Traveller reports that they have confirmation from DJ that the offer applies to all Velocity members.

(While the Terms and Conditions for the deal state "This offer is only available to those selected by Virgin Australia", a spokeswoman for the airline confirmed with Australian Business Traveller that the offer "is currently available to all members".

It certainly works for me - I have 98 SCs as of today but a combination of family pooling, existing bookings, some flights booked specifically to grab double SCs, fortuitously timed 'genuine' bookings and family pooling will get me to 1000 SCs at 29 January!

But it is openly advertised on the website and it was also included in my statement email today. They have publicly communicated the offer to all VFF members, via the website and possibly via email statements, seems like a good indication of being selected.

I reckon it is open to everyone as my statement emails state it in the header and it's on the main page of Velocity's website. I'm going to ring them tomorrow and if they deny me I'll drop the ACCC argument.

If it's in your statement, then you're selected.
