Double SC promo

Re: Double Status Credits offer

I got the email too and with the cheap PE to NZ flights for Velocity members sounds like time to think about a NZ trip. SYD-AKL can be had for approx $860 return in PE and now earns 240 status credits with double credits.:D

Also seems targeted as mentions recent status match.

Re: Double Status Credits offer

I got the offer but differently.
I have the same book by date 30/10 - but my flight dates are 15/10 and 31/12.
I like mine more than yours!
Taez
XOXO

That's a little annoying considering I more than likely have a Europe/US combo trip in late November.

Re: Double Status Credits offer

QF has WPs, DJ have LBPs............(Lucky Ba*#ard Platinums)

Which reminds me. Wednesday night at the AFF gathering in the lounge we need to decide the new abbreviations for Velocity!

Re: Double Status Credits offer

Also just noticed that the promo ends the day before the DJ appreciation run on the 19th.

Coincidence or bad timing?

Re: Double Status Credits offer

On the phone to a Velocity rep now - I just confused the heck out of her.... waiting for her supervisor now.

Update:
They have now gone home for the weekend - no Velocity CC staff over the weekends she said - that can't be right!!! (but it is) So I have to email my offer and wait till Monday.

Great, please advise once you have confirmation of an 18th November or 31st December end date! Save us all ringing up.

Based on asking the Gold member in the house I think I may have worked it out..

Yes Liam, but the T&Cs are wrong for non-Plats.

The VA mileage calculator and SC earnings table for SYD-AKL (1342 miles) indicate 60 SC for a one way flight in J (i.e., 240 SC for a return trip on double SC, rather than 320). Have I missed something here? By the way, I'm not too familiar with Virgin earnings tables. More familiar with Qantas.

Golds received this email..

Platinums received this...

This Gold got an email worded the same as the platinum one!

Sorry is 240

As a new Gold, I got one like Taezar's with the inconsistent dates between the body of the email and the T&C's.

Somebody didn't proof read very well and this will cause some angst until they provide clarification or a retraction.

Maybe I should give VFF a ring on his mobile ?? Very fortuitous timing to have a meeting with him this morning.

P.S. Ended up sending an SMS:

"Hi VFF, Lindsay here. Great to meet you this morning and I think a lot of constructive discussion ensued. You no doubt knew about the impending Double Status Credit email was being readied to go this afternoon. Are you aware of the issues with the inconsistent dates between the body of the email and the T&C's? See the thread started by Liam on AFF. Now this might get traction if it is quickly resolved - I might even be tempted."

Just got an interesting email ...

Book between 14 and 24 October for flights between 24 October and 18 November and earn double SCs

Wonder if I'll get a chance to make use of this?

Interesting. Did everyone get this?

My partner (who is a Platinum via status match) got the email, but I didn't (and I'm Platinum via actual flying). Just wondering if maybe it was sent to status matchers to try to get them to fly DJ and help to requalify?

Got one too. They really are throwing status at everyone! I'm thankful but I do feel a little for the 'earned' VA flyers.

I got it and was status matched. Haven't been flying at all though for a while which makes me wonder what's the points of all this status...

Maybe can book something in for December before the fares jump up. Maybe make sense since if you're starting on 0 it's a long way up, or maybe just for us lazy people who haven't booked with them yet?

Or maybe it's got more to do with a traditional lull in the travel calendar. Dec\Jan will be busy but people won't travel right now, just before Xmas holidays, without a carrot or a good reason.

Re: Double Status Credits offer

A bit strange if golds get a longer promotion period than platinums?

I got a reply from VFF 10 mins ago:

"Have read the thread and not happy to see issues with it. Have asked the question but not sure if I'll hear back tonight."

Could I ever imagine getting a response from QFF that quickly - not on your life!

Swayed me VFF - you betcha!

I am only a lowly silver, through flying obviously (why would you match a silver!) and I never got it, which is a shame really because November is one of my busier months... Oh well, looks like I'll have to get gold by actual flying!
