Double Status Credits 2011

Just completed a 3 day work trip - SYD-BNE-ROK-MKY-TSV-CNS-SYD= 280SC and with that have reach the mystical 3600SC mark :) what to do now...still got 4 months left this QFF year!

It is both fortunate and unfortunate that this promotion has taken place. Fortunate for those who were 'targeted' and most unfortunate for those who weren't (and that list includes me) It just so happens I have accumulated heaps of SCs in that period (over 1,000 anyway) and it would have been nice to get those doubled. Would have got me to the magic 3,600 number!

However, I did get selected in a double SC promotion a couple of years ago so I suppose can't be greedy.

From my response from QFF it was a targeted promotion for people who might not have got to their renewal SC number. I just wish I had been selected even if only by mistake!

Now I probably won't get to 3,600!

Doubtful. I was targeted two months into my FF year, and was on track (pro rata) to retain Platinum.

Someone in QF marketing in will know, but there is no obvious pattern. I've been NB for years, and started flying regularly (i.e. 3+ flights a week) in March - was already on track to make Gold for the first time by my end July anniversary date. The double SC offer let me target Platinum, which was nice.

Frustrating being 5 SCs off Platinum though.

I'd take a random flight somewhere if I was only 5 status credits off...

I'd definitely take a random flight but I know I've got 30 bonus credits to come through.

I'm flying DJ CBR BNE tomorrow on a flexi ticket, might just have to stump up for a QF ticket, to remove all doubt.

I'd take a flight - but not random. It would be the cheapest I could find.

which is in fact what I meant - whatever random location happens to have the cheapest return flight. Rather than a flight to somewhere specific. Although I didn't express that particularly well, I figured people would know what I meant.

I've just been overseas for work and my double status credits got awarded within 4 days of taking each flight.

I took advantage of the offer and booked a day of travelling this Saturday: HBA-SYD, SYD-CBR, CBR-MEL, MEL-HBA. All business class so I should get a good 360 status credits for that one day! Cost me a couple of hundred dollars plus some points for that many SC's!

The QF 'logic' never ceases to amaze me...

They have credited the extra SC for my flights before my BNE-SYD sector last Friday. Fine.
They have credited the extra SC for my flights after my BNE-SYD sector last Friday. Goodo.
They are yet to credit the BNE-SYD leg, which was the SAME DAY as my SYD-MEL sector last Friday...

Normally I wouldn't care, however I'm sitting on 690 and the BNE-SYD sector is the 10 I need to reach SG and I'm praying the SG level will unlock some better seats for the long-distance flights I have coming up.

Writing this from a hotel in Townsville at the end of the first day of my SC run (to take advantage of the double SC promo)... MEL-ADL-BNE-TSV today, TSV-BNE-DRW-BNE-TSV tomorrow, TSV-BNE-CBR-ADL-MEL on Sunday. 11 flights / 15,000KM in three days

Had the pleasure of flying on the newest (in service) plane in Qantas' fleet this morning - a 737-800 (reg VH-VZO) which has only been in service for two weeks according to the captain. Gotta say, the AVOD system Qantas is installing in these new planes is very, very good: easy to use, no glitches (that I noticed), touchscreen is excellent and the range of content is more than enough for domestic use (except that it could perhaps use a few movies for longer flights).

Unfortunately this was on my MEL-ADL positioning flight though, so only got the Y experience. Gotta put up with 737-400s for most of the rest of the run, although the plane for BNE-DRW-BNE has just been changed to an international config 767 so I suppose I shouldn't complain too much.

Update (couldn't work out how to edit my earlier post): the remaining DSC were credited today, and I've now jumped to SG. Hooray me, etc.

Red Roo: thanks for your PM. Apologies I couldn't reply: I've not yet made enough posts to send PMs yet.

My first post! :)

I just made Gold yesterday (through my various flights this week) and should make Platinum when I complete my holiday in Fiji.

Currently sitting on the balcony of my Oceanfront room at Westin Denarau. Travelling in J was a good experience in a 744 yesterday from Sydney, and the missus absolutely loved it.

Thank you everyone at AFF.. without your valuable comment I probably wouldn't have Fiji in my list (at least travelling in J) for holiday, and I would probably still be a lowly PS.
