Double Status Credits 2013

Why don't you look at Jetstar Business Class to Singapore and Beijing with a max bundle. The fares are often very reasonable and you would earn 220 status credits each way.

I'm not sure why but I thought the DSC only applied to Qantas flights and not JQ or OW?

Will need to sit down and look at my options a little later this evening (sadly, I have to do some actual work soon) but will let you guys know what I find :)

You're correct, although you can book JQ flights with a QF number so they should be ok as long as you get FF points.

Most of the 3k connections that are part of the Asia sale when booked under QF flight numbers dont earn - FWIW.

As someone who achieved QF silver for the first time last year it has been worth it for me.

- Exit row can be obtained. Invaluable at my height. Front row of economy has also been possible (In April I had 23B with 23A blocked on an A330 flight to MEL)
- 50% points bonus is great. I have gained an extra 14,000 points with this over what I would otherwise have earned since mid-July.
- Phone seems to be answered much quicker, I very rarely have to wait (especially during business hours)
- Free advanced seat selection on international has saved me some cash as well (though it's kinda hard to save money on QFi when you live in Perth!)
- Priority check-in at international has also saved me time at airports. Note you can also use the Premium desks domestically - a benefit which I think was removed but I have noticed the signage at airports now indicates Silver can use these lanes.

Happy travels. :)

I'm another Bronze (with QC) member who received the DSC offer. I need 110 SC to get to Silver before August 31, and slightly tempted to do a JASA from MEL to OOL via SYD, for 24000 points and ~ $180. With DSC that would net me 160 SC one-way. And then I could just use some AA points to get home.

However, I'm just not sure a year of Silver is worth it for me as I've got very little (paid) travel on the horizon (finishing off my law degree whilst working full-time and paying down debt). My work-funded QC membership lasts until September 2014 which gives me lounge access and extra baggage, so I'm thinking I'll save my points and $$$ for a Gold run as a graduation present to myself.

I agree, it's my first year as PS too and I've noticed the difference. For my trip to the USA last month I had free baggage for both my partner and I on AA, a free third bag for myself from JFK-BNE (yes, we brought a lot back!), usage of the premium desks, better seat selection and of course the extra points. Problem is I'm now 10SC away from SG and I don't have any more travel planned until September, good thing my renewal isn't until November.

Scott.

OOL can be good for JASAs, I did OOL-CBR via SYD return to make SG. 61k points minus the 5k you get for flying and the 8k for passing the 500SC loyalty bonus meant with the DSC offer it was effectively 48k points for 320SC.

For those with a DSC offer (not me :() there is a $389 CBR-SYD-OOL in J sale on until 11 June. Would have to be one of the better sales.

Possibly a stupid question - but I've registered for the promo that finishes on 30 June... we are looking at leaving YYC and DFW on 30 June but won't arrive into BNE until 2 July with time zones - does travel have to finish by 30 June? Or will it still count on the day it was started?
Thanks :)

Your SC's and points will be awarded based on the scheduled departure time and date, not the arrival time. So the DSC's will apply to your flight. If you have any issues a phone call to the QFF centre will sort it.

But the DSC arrive 1-2 weeks later. I believe they won't count in the previous status year (hence I moved a PER-TSV-PER trip forward to the 15th-16th June as I also expire on the 30th June and I need the DSC to get the 2400 bonus). Can anyone confirm that?

They will be counted in the previous year, and there have been examples where retro claims crediting weeks into the new year change the previous years status.

Looking forward to welcoming you to the Gold family. :)

I just made it to Gold today for the first time ever. Off on a Dom 4 leg J work trip next week then Taipei the following week and I will arrive back in Oz a freshly crowned Platnium virgin.

The DSC from my sectors from last weekend posted on the following Wednesday (the regular "earn" from those flights came through the same day in all instances).

As an original FF member (Apr 91) and with getting 600 last year, and with 600 by anniversary end of August this year, you think loyalty years would count for an offer to get me to SG, but alas my email is empty:(
