I suspect the DSC offer comes through when your SC are close to the next level and you're towards the end of your year.

i did get a DSC offer earlier on from OOL, but didn't use it.

Not my experience - I got the last DSC offer, my year expires 31 October, and I would have requalified well and truly without the offer.

Well my outstanding SC have now posted and the big question now is do i try and go for WP??

What are the benefits? and are they really worth the cost/points?

Attached is a summary of where i am at.

I've really only got 3 weekends in Jun i can travel and have already booked a DE SYD-ADL-SYD flight for one of those weekends.

Thoughts???

Disappointingly my DSC from my flight on Sunday didn't post in time for my flights to and from Melbourne today.

Missed out on QP access by 40SC.

Funnily enough my normal SC from this mornings flight have posted already.

Also not my experience. Several years in a row DSC came along in the first couple of months of my membership year, and I requalified at those times.

The offer algorithm is probably quite simple, but with a couple of random factors thrown in at the end, just so we can't easily figure it out

In same boat have 690 SC thinking go to CNS/BNE/SIN in J 100K points less get back approx 37K so 63K points and $800. Would be WP till Nov. 1st 2014 then following year possibly drop to SG. Have 1 other Int. to HKG booked this Oct, next year at least 1 Dom and 2 Int. flights in mind in various classes so WP be handy arr decisions.

The DSC promo by Qantas is a brilliant marketing ploy. I have been on one JASA already and have another booked and the 2nd JASA is 100% purely a status run and giving me a day off mid week to fly all over Australia and enjoy the perks of J travel as I don't normally fly J. Today I was informed about a reason why I could travel domestically next week. I put the business case forward and now I'm on a plane next week that will get me SG for the first time ever. The following week, a 320SC x 2 Status run will project me within 60 SC of WP for the first time. The following week, I'm off to Taiwan and I'll be a fully fledged WP. YIPPEE!!

The work trip was not on the cards. I was never going and suggested to go purely cos I knew I needed the SC's to get me WP for a long haul overseas trip later in the year. It's certainly justifiable that I go on the work trip and the business case I put forward proved that it is a good investment, but it's a nasty fly in, work like a dog and fly out early the next morning and go back to your normal job that is piling up. Fact is QF got an extra fair that they wouldn't have got if I wasn't chasing SC points. Also, I would say Frequent flyers points entitlements, would be recorded on the Balance sheet of QF no different than employee leave entitlements...as a liability. These promos help reduce that liability.

Keep the DSC's coming QF. I'm flying more than ever and going out of my way to fly the Red Roo or its partners. Loyalty at it's best.

Same here! Need to head to the subcontinent again (just got back a few weeks ago) and tossing up between flying QF/MH, or crediting Aegean on SQ to get me close to Star Alliance Gold!

My daughter just got offered DSC by email today. She is only 5, so probably can't rush off and do a Status Run by herself, and i have requal'd WP. DSC going to waste
