Double status credits on offer for eligible Qantas flights

I have said it before but I will say it again, bonus SC promotions just punish the loyal and reward those who are not. All I ask for is a level playing field when competing for upgrades, reward seats etc but these promotions unfairly tilt the field towards some over others.

All companies are bad at it however. I notice I only get Woolies bonus point promotions when I have not shopped there for a while.

I have not received the offer, and I expect to requalify this year.

But I am loyal. I am also self-funded which means requalifying is harder for me than an employer-funded FF.

So yes, a double SC promotion would be a big help for me.

I am no less loyal just because I don't make it over the line as easily as you or others. In fact, being self funded may make me more loyal.

And to borrow your turn of phrase - I've said it before, and I'll say it again, your argument is flawed as even with "assisted status", if these "assisted FFs" aren't flying that often - then they're NOT competing with you for award seats, lounge space etc.

Hi All,

Sounds like some people really appreciate the offer! I hope it helps people continue to enjoy their Status privileges.
We do these offers from time to time. While I can not guarantee when or how they will be applied, my advice for all would be to log into https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/do/dyns/auth/yourprofile/yourProfile and ensure you are opted-in to receive offers from us.

Hope this helps,

Red Roo

While I can see what Pleb Status is saying, I'm a SFSC like you, dfcatch, so I certainly go along with what you say.

Another in the loyal, self funded FF here.
Not sure if I will retain WP this year, but should bounce back the following.
Yet to recieve any QF loving, and not expecting any.

No luck here, but I just qualified Platinum and my year ends this month! Would have loved a boost to my year for March though :(

No Luck this time which is a shame as I will not retain my status level this year as Silver.

I did get the offer last time but flights were cancelled due to the Volcano situation.. Was hoping that would be remembered and I would get a second chance...

Likewise, I received: "No Deal for you, come back 1 year!"

3 years PS, 3 years as SG, 2 as WP and I've never received a single offer*.

*apart form grounding compensation double points

I didn't even get the "you are dropping back to SG, tell us about your flight plans for next year" whereby I am easily becoming a WP again.

But Alas do not fear QF, I just spent 45 minutes on the phone to Jetstar customer service sorting out a $194 charge on my card for a $22 plus upgrade bundle, and I still love you.

My year ends May 31 and did not receive it. Do all of the people who received this offer have memberships expiring within the time period specified?

With respect, I disagree. Most "assisted" WP will most likely have been mid to high level SG (800-1100SC) otherwise and these promotions get them over the WP line. If the "assisted" WP earnt most of their SC on domestic discount economy flights, they are still most likely flying a fair bit (that is 40-60 domestic sectors on average pa). Therefore, there is a very good chance that a real WP will have to complete with the "assisted" WP for the limited benefits available.

All I ask for is a level playing field, nothing else. Why should some pay less to get the same benefits as others (as SC cost real money to obtain).

Fair points.

IMHO I think you are overstating the amount you need to compete with them.

In fairness - perhaps I am understating it too ;)

+4. self funded SG here - the only way I kept it this year was JASA's. I wouldn't have expected to get the offer as my year ends 28/2...but one later in 2012 would be nice ;)

My year ends 31st March and no offer here. However I will scrape in with 2400 points exactly, but haven't booked them as yet.

I'm sure JohnK would be happy about this offer, and then him not being eligible again! (or was it someone else!?)
It makes me have that warm feeling that my loyalty to Qantas, especially commuting the past 4 years, means absolutely nothing when they just throw these rubbish offers around to all and sundry.

Trying to get to Brisbane on April 9 and return to Sydney on April 13 and the cheapest airfares that suit are now $155 each way for a measly 10 SCs each.

And people wonder why I try and beat the stupid system Qantas has in place of not rewarding by finding cheap SCs in Asia.

By the way did anyone notice that SYD-BNE airfares have just gone up $5 and are slated to go up a further $1 in July? It does not matter if your company is paying for them though does it?

Oh, and I am also 60 SCs short of Platinum with my anniversary end of May. But I did get a BMI offer for 30% off my next flight on BMI. Go an figure....

I also doubt if it will work as there was no requirement to login so I'm sure it linked directly with the account.

Can't hurt to try.......I did the same....if it works, great.....

Given that those dates are Easter school holidays, I would be expecting prices on the high side.

I always find responses along the lines of "I'm against shortcuts to status, unless I can take advantage of such shortcuts" amusing.

Qantas will always do what they deem to be in their long term (financial) interest. It doesn't have to make sense to us, be consistent or anything else. Any mention by them of loyalty etc is just marketing speak designed to make you feel special. They're a business, not an AFF/FT Co-Op and it's their shareholders that they're (sort of) accountable to.
