Double status credits on offer for eligible Qantas flights

I made WP last year with the assistance of double status credits for the first time (after about 5 years as a Gold and being close before). I even had a JASA status run booked, but didn't need it.

It also fell across my qualifying period so I got a head start to my re-qualifying this year, which I have completed @5 months early. Hopefully in 2013, when I think I am going to need it, the double status God will smile upon me.

I always find responses along the lines of "I'm against shortcuts to status, unless I can take advantage of such shortcuts" amusing.

Qantas will always do what they deem to be in their long term (financial) interest. It doesn't have to make sense to us, be consistent or anything else. Any mention by them of loyalty etc is just marketing speak designed to make you feel special. They're a business, not an AFF/FT Co-Op and it's their shareholders that they're (sort of) accountable to.

I couldn't agree more.

I recalled receiving it but now can't find the email.
Can I ask Qantas to resend the email so that I can register ?

Hi isdnman,
If you would like to PM me your Qff# and I can look into it and send you the details. Alternatively, you can call the Service Centre and they can fill you in.
Cheers,
Red Roo

I registered following email and have flown four domestic sectors since. Double status credits had not been applied. Will need to call and inquire.

Please check that your flights were booked and taken during the offer dates. The bonus Status credits should credit to your account but we are always happy to help if there are problems.
Cheers,
Red Roo

Hi Trevor

There are [-]seven[/-] six options for receiving promotional emails - can you confirm exactly which one you ned to select to ensure you are not prevented from being targetted? I appreciate that opting in for the emails wont guarantee it either - but I just want to be absolutely sure:

Select the items you would like to receive by email or de-select to unsubscribe:
Points Balance and e-Newsletter - Your monthly points balance plus our latest news and offers.
Frequent Flyer Exclusives - Flight and travel offers, promotions and more.
Travel Partner Offers - Deals and point offers from our airline, hotel, holiday and car rental partners.
Other Partner Offers - Offers from shopping, entertainment, money, real estate and other partners.
Airline News - Keep up to date with the latest Qantas news.
Membership Updates - The best way to find out everything about your membership and changes to the program.

I assume the one in red the one?

I didn't expect this promo I have a Sep year end and will comfortably hit WP. A promo like this though would definitely steer some future planned travel between QF and VA.

I have ticked all of these and never been the recipient of any bonus offers :(
BUT I am just a lowly silver... AND I currently have 7 bookings in my account... maybe they dont feel the need to offer to people who already have upcoming flights? I would love it though - I aspire (and fail miserably each year) to becoming Gold :)

Don't feel to bad, I have never received on either, and also a lowly silver, at present.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention simongr. I just checked and found that for some reason I did not have the Frequent Flyer Offers ticked. Has now been remedied. Notwithstanding that I did get a bonus points and status credits offer last year, at I time I could not use it of course. As I have already requalified WP this year I don't think I'll get the current one.

"What about me?" ... reminds me of a song.
No offer for this little black duck ... But I can dream a little dream.
May be QF has detected that some of my flying has now started to happen on JAL & AA as QF pricing has become too expensive for our company. Even our 2 x CL members are flying SQ, JAL, AA more and more for international.

After calling QF centre, I learn that:
1. bookings made before 08 Feb won't qualify for double SCs even though the flight was taken after 08 Feb.
2. it will take up to six weeks for bonus SCs to post.

This has always been the case. In fact it’s worth noting that if you have a cancelled ticket with associated PNR then you then use for a new booking it wont credit as it looks at the old ticket. So don’t cancel and rebook unless you’re using a different source of funds.

Did they say booking or ticketing??

Mine was booked prior ( to reserve flights) but not ticketed until after 8 Feb.......

Seems key word is 'booked'. So as I had prior to 8th, I don't get the bonus SCs. If you're ticketed after the 8th, hope QF does give you those SCs.

Happy I didn't get this offer as I booked my J trip to Europe for April before the offer, otherwise this would have been instant requal for WP... now I'll have to wait till August to requal

Happy, because if I have had received the offer I would be slapping myself for having already booked the trip :D

For the first time ever a Double SC email has landed in my inbox today
Year ends 31st May. J rtn to LHR departing soon ( booked donkeys ago) so unlikely to be able to take advantage of it and wont need it to re-equal. Thanks for thinking of me anyway QF :)
