Double Status Credits Virgin Australia Activate by 10th Feb 2023. and Travel by 31st March 2023

I would like to thank the work experience kids running the Virgin loyalty department for their unexpected gift this AM….

Has anyone else has sc’s given to them that they perhaps have not ‘deserved’…?
Not me, but another airline has "credited" sone sort of bonus ...

From what I understand, this is not on the app ... the discount is shown when booking on the website ... I have seen screenshots from websites before, not app ... Too bad the discount doesn't apply for all amex cards when booking amex travel. Trying to get rid of a $450 credit, too hard!
I was going to ask this one quickly but I think it's been answered...

Confirming that booking via Amex travel is still eligible for Double SC? Can't see why it wouldn't be but doesn't hurt to check and be sure

To be confirm. I did that and I haven't received my DSC yet. It has been only 4 days so I'll wait at least one more week and I'll call them

Potentially a stupid question but can anyone confirm if flights booked through Virgin Business Flyer are eligible for DSC?

Morning experts , can I please check if I can cancel the choice fare tickets for May and rebook them to avail the ongoing DSC offer as it will help me get one more additional year of platinum. I have already requalified for platinum till Feb 2024. ta

The Ts&Cs on the offer say it could be 4 weeks before double status credits are awarded so no need to rush them ;)

It seemed others had booked via Amex knowing this has worked fine in the past, can't imagine why it wouldn't. The offer terms say:

book and ticket an Eligible Flight during the Promotion Period and enter a valid Velocity membership number at the time of booking; and (3) complete travel on an Eligible Flight.

Booking via Amex and adding your velocity number during booking fits those terms just fine.

I don't think the booking engine makes a difference, unless explicitly stated in the offer T&Cs. The offer T&Cs don't specifically say bookings made on VA website or app and doesn't exclude any other means. So you should be fine.

Looks like there is a $89 cancellation fee:

Rookie question alert!

I have already requalified for platinum till Feb 2024.
Meaning, if you don't do any flying from now till Feb 2024, you'll still be Platinum - correct?

help me get one more additional year of platinum.
Meaning, you will be Platinum till Feb 2025 if you cancel the choice fare you have for May and rebook for the ongoing DSC and complete the trip, that was supposed to be done in May, before 31/03?

If the answer to the above is Yes, then is it safe to say that if someone flies 2x Platinum (2000SC) worth SCs in a year - they get to be Platinum for 2 years?

No you can only qualify for status for the year ahead of your current year.

NO amount of SC's can qualify you beyond that, that's where with VA you can gift a WP membership status by earing 1000SC's above the 800SC you need to requalify. And no you can't gift yourself status for years ahead, ha.

Knegelli has qualified for his next year from Feb 2023 to Feb 2024, the DSC offer which ends tomorrow has the windows of flights up until March 31st, so a few DSC flights in March would requalify in that years (Feb 23 - Feb 24) for the following year. Note, only flights after Feb, in March in this case, his anniversary will contribute to the 800SC's required.

Hope that's clear. I think it is to me.

One of the legs SYD-CBR is going to Link Airways Saab (and hence no J seats, but J SC's are awarded). Wondering if this leg would be eligible for DSC? My understanding is it would be because there are no VA operated VA flights ex-CBR to SYD ... Thoughts?

I've never heard of this.

No as @MooTime has mentioned , I will be platinum till my anniversary month Feb 2024 and if I don't fly anymore then will soft drop to Gold in Feb 2024. Hence I am looking for ways to add more SCs to my account.

You are correct , I wanted to change my flights from May and book for something in March 2023 if cancellation is even a possibility.

Which part, if I may ask?
This part

I've never heard of a sector being eligible for DSC because VA don't operate it.

(Not to say it's not eligible, just I have not heard of that being a reason to make it eligible)

This is a new arrangement, so I don't know for sure, but I think it will be eligible. The arrangement with Link is not a codeshare, it's a wet-lease. So, sort of like QANTAS/QANTASlink, just without the paint job on the wet-leased planes. I think that it'll count as Virgin operated for the purposes of the DSC offer.

I'll find out for certain in a months time though when I've got a trip to CBR, so I'll report back then. Let us know what your experience is if you're flying it before me.

That was my understanding too. Similar setup to the QF/Alliance one.

Yes it is eligible and I had done that multiple times in the past. As long as it is a revenue ticket and part of eligible fare class , there is no reason double SCs won't be awarded.

Question to do with DSC bookings, changes and fly ahead, can anyone help please?

1) I’ve got a booking I made during DSC. If I use my fly ahead benefit to leave earlier in the day, will that knock out the DSC earn because I’ve changed flights?

2) How about if I have a Feb booking made during the DSC promo and want to change it to another Feb day but same route. Will it still get the DSC as it’s the same reloc, or will it drop down to normal SC earn because the change was made after 10/2?

Thanks in advance!

Not that I can say for sure, but in my past experience as long as the PNR stays the same you will get the double status credits. Both of the scenarios you mentioned are changes which would keep the same PNR :)
