Is there a quick/easy way to search for flights via SCs earned on certain dates rather than to specific destinations?

@vetadam not sure I fully understand your question - flight routes are pretty much the same every weekend.
You just need to find a route that delivers the needed SC.
Best to use this tool to calculate the SC: flyer.tools

So I’m hoping I can find a 120 SC route/fare (doubled to 240 SC) for a reasonable amount of money. Is there a quick way to compare fares based on SC rather than by route?
At the moment I’m searching Sydney to varying locations on a couple of date options and repeating over and over

I'm looking for a 120 SC run (doubled to 240 SC with this offer) one weekend in December, ex SYD.

You could fly SYD-OOL-AKL in Economy Getaway on Saturday 7/12 for $416.93 and pick up 40 status credits (80 with DSCs). Then, fly AKL-NTL in Business on Sunday 8/12 for ~$456 to pick up another 80 SCs (160 with DSCs). From Newcastle Airport, just catch a train back to Sydney.

(You could also pick up the same status credits by flying back from Auckland direct to Sydney, but the fare is about double.)

FWIW, I found these using ITA Matrix and referring back to the Velocity status earn tables - Earn Tables

I have mixed emotions about the timing of this promotion. I booked a few flights last week at the Getaway rate. On one hand, it would have been terrific if I could get double the credits, but on the other hand, I might have been lured into opting for a more expensive ticket to take advantage of the offer. I try to avoid being influenced by the lure of FF points and credits, but I’m ashamed to say that I do fall for their tricks once in a while, particularly when there’s a double status credit offer (My main motivation is that it would be nice to be able to gift gold to someone this Christmas)

Had been talking about going to MEL with the family in January to have 10 days holiday with friends. It's now on!

Everybody registered and time to book the airfares, using a discount code and family pooling to me. 240 SC's towards Plat re-qual. Yeah baby :D
Now I have the dilemma that hubby will hit WP requal about March but his renewal date is Oct.

So its either no August holiday or go on hols and go for extra SCs to gift gold at least.

Does anybody know if I book a Freedom fare now for next year on the Double SC offer, then change my flight on the same booking reference, do the double status credits still apply?

IME Yes , however the travel will need to be within the time period specified for the DSC offer.

EY changed VA flights on us by 5mins and then claimed it was a new booking so I no longer qualified for ABC advertised benefit.

I pushed the point that I didnt make any changes, the airline did so I should still get the benefit because otherwise they are moving the goal posts. They agreed but Im sure for every 10 people they tried it on, 8 accepted it.

I have a return from MEL to SFO for 10 Dec - 28 Dec . ( onward is Elevate and return is Getaway) . What will be the implications if I try to cancel the flight and try to book again to make use of the double status credits ? It will be 2 adults and 1 Child and DSC will help me retain gold with this trip.

Will be reviewing the terms and conditions of change , however wanted to check the opinions of experts.

You’ll have to pay the cancellation fees. I don’t know if you can get a partial refund for getaway, or whether Virgin - like Singapore - applies the rules for the most restrictive ticket to a mixed class booking. Either way, it’ll likely cost you a heap. I doubt it would be worth it. Have a look at the conditions of your ticket though.

I knew a soon as I booked a business class flight from Melbourne to the goldcoast this would happen.

Went via Canberra on the way up Sydney on the way back. $2,700 (wasn’t fussed)

This offer came out. So I opened up my amex travel. Filled it all out. Got it ready to book.
Called virgin up cancelled the flight with them. Got the full refund to my amex.

Then pressed complete on the amex travel one. Also used a travel credit. $1,700 return for me and the Mrs.
gets her to platinum and get me just shy of keeping my platinum with many months to spare.

Now time to book a few more flights. Maybe an international or two 🤣

VA never misses a beat with me.

So no creative Cook Island type runs in J turning up for the sleuths here? :D

i thought in the conditions it said alterations to existing bookings voided the DSC offer

I’m considering an island trip - Cook Islands, Fiji or Vanuatu. Unfortunately the timing of connections to and from Hobart means that I have to spend at least one night in transit in another city (I’m happy to stand corrected if someone can find an alternative). I can shoot straight through to Bali though, so maybe I’ll do another one of those. Decisions decisions...

HBA to NAN via MEL (4 per week) and returning via BNE on Fridays?

We just got back from a Cook Is trip. Interesting.

Virgin flight leaves late .. about 10pm and arrives AKL about 1am.

I just booked a cheapie Airport Motel, and caught the 2pm or whatever to MEL, then back to SYD by evening.

For anyone planning a Status run I see SYD-DUBLIN for $A1150 return on Virgin site on Feb dates I was looking at. Gives a ton of SC when taken via MEL each way.

Someone might have time to work that out with the Double SC offer?

Plats get to use the Etihad First Lounge in Abu Dhabi and the Etihad lounge in Dublin is really excellent. Been there several times.

Is there a trick to getting VA website to show up weird routings to get the maximum stops for SCs
Webjet do it much better. My proposed flight Darwin to BNE only shows 3 options whereas Webjet about 10
