Double the Fun [Double Velocity SCs, Book by 24 Nov, Travel by 13 Oct 2020]

For anyone planning a Status run I see SYD-DUBLIN for $A1150 return on Virgin site on Feb dates I was looking at. Gives a ton of SC when taken via MEL each way.

Someone might have time to work that out with the Double SC offer?

Plats get to use the Etihad First Lounge in Abu Dhabi and the Etihad lounge in Dublin is really excellent. Been there several times.
That trip would be on Etihad metal, so it's not eligible for the DSC offer

Was playing around with the Multi-City tool and came up with this weekend getaway to Auckland (assuming all flights booked in business saver):

MEL > OOL (Regular SC = 60, Double SC = 120)
OOL > AKL (Regular SC = 80, Double SC = 160)
AKL > OOL (Regular SC = 80, Double SC = 160)
OOL > MEL (Regular SC = 60, Double SC = 120)

Total 560 SC for $932.58 (or $1.67/SC). Multiple dates in May/June.

Hey @stig_aus have you been able to get the VA website to dispplay that fare? I can get it on ITA but cannot for the life of me get the Virgin website to play the game. Did you do it as a multi city or two oneways?

I did it as a multi city booking. Which dates are you trying?

I've tried a bunch on the VA site but couldn't get it to stick. Googlle Flights priced out at $942 but when transfering to the VA website to book it went up to $1450. I'll keep trying. .

Cheers for the find!

Found some dates in September 🙂41BF3B77-A8F6-43DE-A5C7-0E894DE6B0DA.png

hmm, I'm a total noob at this game.

looking at:
SYD>MEL on 17/02
MEL>HBA or LST on 20/02
HBA>SYD on 21/02

~$1600, getting me 300SC in J saver
doesn't seem like value to me, can anyone shed their insights?

PS: @stig_aus is that you with Marlo?

Can someone tell me what time is VA happy hour today as hoping to find something better than using the current discount code.

thanks,

Try promo code FMZ59 when looking for J saver fares. The route above seems to be a bit of an anomaly in terms of pricing though so you might just have to try a few dates.

And yep that is me with MaRLo at ASOT in Malaysia a few years ago :D

i can turn it into a work trip if I go those dates.
will also try @Denali 's idea of 4pm today, otherwise will book it in

haha, nice its good to see Marlo has made it huge, i used to see him play when he was "liquid m" with another guy

Tried for random date in July and total in J class is $938 without any discount codes applied.

i thought in the conditions it said alterations to existing bookings voided the DSC offer

I was planning to cancel the existing booking and make a fresh one to qualify for the DSC offer.

You will lose all the cancel fee and no guarantee base fare has not increased of course.

I just saw a Virgin ad on social media promoting their new Melbourne to DPS route. I’d much rather fly via Melbourne than Sydney or Brisbane! However, the new route is not showing up on Google flights searches, even though it’s bookable on the Virgin site. Does anyone know why this might happen and how to get around it? The new Melbourne route is on sale this week so I’d like to find the cheapest price (via Google Flights or similar) and book it while the double status credits promotion is live.

Hi guys,

I'm still needing 330 credits and 2 sectors to maintain Plat by March next year, hoping to take advantage of the double status credits offer.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks a dozen.
