I heard yesterday from colleague at work who is travelling overseas this month in Y with Cathay. Cathay have overbooked Y and their group was asked to travel a day earlier or later - in J class. They jumped at it.
Why doesn't it ever happen to me? :(

I was travelling on QF SYD HKG last year in Y with my wife which was clearly overbooked due to the cutting of 2 flights into one (remember that?). Received a call a couple of days before departure asking if I would consider shifting to J the next day. Would have done it but for the fact my wife needed to be back at work...

I must admit that I'm never in a hurry to get back to work. Would be happy to arrive back late and suffer in J all the way. :D

Yes yes, but did they say it would be free of charge!! With QF you'd probably turn up at the airport and be presented with a 'fare adjustment' as you agreed to moving to a higher cabin

For $700 I'd accept ! Presumably their policy is consistent in both directions.

Now that is what I call a truly "World class yield management system" - for passengers that is.

Sorry Red Roo!

But hey QF "Feels like home".

The ‘Feels Like Home’ series tells the real stories of five Qantas passengers and their journey home to Australia being welcomed at the airport by loved ones.
Filmed in London, Santiago, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, the Pilbara and Sydney, the series features Qantas employees as well as customers and will roll out from Sunday 9 November.

But hey QF "Feels like home".

If only we still had "The Comedy Company" show.

Remember the "cough Inc" adverts?

Then we could see the spoof advert - Video of family getting ready to go collect daughter (well known transplant specialist who had to fly to xx_ for to replace surgeon taken ill who was to operate on an emergency transplant recipient the day before) wedding later that day, switch shot to daughter being told she's been offloaded due to over-selling and must fly next day, switch shot back to parents mobile phone ringing to hear that their daughter will not make it to her wedding.

Final shot to bean counters in head office of cough Airlines congratulating each other on achieving yet another 100% yield flight! Finish with voice over:

"cough Airlines - we'll get you home when it suits us!"

I wonder if any of the commercial channels would run the "advertorial" if actually put together???

Anyone know someone involved with the creation of "The Checkout"?

Happy wandering

Fred

Well it's now been four weeks since it all started. Nothing new to report it seems?
