Due to fly Melbourne to Perth June 12th. Chances of flying?

I am a few days behind you on the 15th. I'm holding little hope. Going again 1 July and similarly doubtful on that trip too but trying to be optimistic. It's all just very sad

With 176 $20 notes you can come to WA for hotel quarantine and several Covid-19 tests provided you get a G2G pass and have ID and masks. I think that could be your June 12th scenario.
Hard border may not get you the G2G entry pass.

Plenty will be affected - we have MEL-DWN 12/06 - DWN-CNS 17/06 - CNS-MEL 22/06 - but it is a new world - expect any plans made to be cancelled at drop of a hat - no great drama - much more important we are all safe to fight another day

Fully vaccinated people should really not be subject to state border restrictions, hopefully this becomes a policy adapted soon by all the state governments...

I agree with your point, however, as I understand it, even if you have been vaccinated, you're still contagious, albiet a little less so.

It's certainly being discussed, even in WA Health. What form it will take (e.g. isolate until negative result) remains to be seen, and some of the mechanics need to be worked out. But I guess, once they are further along the vaccination process, we will see these changes.

If you’re a spreader, vaccinated or not, are you saying they can roam free as they choose? I suggest that Victoria is a good example of how easy it is to spread the disease far and wide. Those vaccinated should still need to show they are not contagious.

The local CMO has said possibly around the Sept/Oct mark depending on the vaccination levels and that it was scheduled to be discussed at the national meetings.

Good question. Us too (due to fly on 4 June). We're booked on Qantas, so are waiting a bit to see if the flight itself gets cancelled. If so, will apply for refund. If not, will get a credit for later use.

As long as cases remain low or 0, I suspect QLD border will lift the hotspot declaration on all of Victoria 48 - 72 hours after lockdown is over, so hopefully the weekend after will be safe.

I'm flying *cough* Jetstar *cough* to Gold Coast on Friday morning so think I'm going to wait until Wednesday evening to make a decision, unless there is any other news or updates earlier to allow me to make a decision prior to then.

Jetstar makes very last-minute decisions but at least allows you to easily get a credit via the website. They also have the rare benefit of actually being contactable (the longest I've ever had to wait for JQ chat is about 2 minutes).

Yes - but it’s not me saying it, that’s the governments plan. It’s probably going to kick in when the most vulnerable have had the chance to be vaccinated (prob 40/50+ from what they have been saying). If people don’t want to get vaccinated / are being vaccine snobs then they can spin the wheel with COVID, their choice I guess.

I also hope this is true but somehow doubt the WA CMO has the presence to lead on this from past performance.... but who knows maybe WA will surprise us! It really should be a National Cabinet alignment though....

Well, you can probably add three months on to any time frame while the CHO tries to convince Dear Leader, so go end of year

(I think it is with the health dept folk to come up with something to take to national cabinet, so I suspect all the states are looking at it)

It's not a little less, it's much less.

Less likely to catch it in the first place, less likely to pass it on, and if there's a good percentage of others vaccinated, less likely for someone else to catch it if you are passing it on.

That's a triple reduction - we're at around 20% now but I'd say we'd have to be up around 50% at least before they start thinking of this.
