Excellent news that the upgrades are almost complete. We're flying from Sydney to Ayers Rock next week, seated in 1a and 2a. Fingers crossed it isn't on one of the last remaining E190s which hasn't been upgraded yet.

You're guaranteed to get a refurbished E190.

The E190 J class installation program has almost concluded, with VH-ZPC shortly on her way to Christchurch as the final a/c to be refurbished.

Kudos to Virgin Australia, E190 J class is a great product and a/c were upgraded at a rather fast pace :)

I note my ROK-BNE this afternoon appears to have the E90 subbed with a 738. It was showing an E90 old config yesterday morning, then an E90 new config yesterday arvo, now a 738.

I wonder if that was originally VH-ZPC.

This is great news. I have been avoiding E190 aircraft since the 737's were first converted.

Flew J in a 737 and then J in a refurbed E190 on Saturday. Was in 2A on the 737 and 1C (whatever the window seat is) on the E190 (had originally selected 1A but CSM invited me to take the window pair in row 1 because there was only 1 other person in J).

Prefer the Embraers when in Y because of the 2-2 seating (and the old Y seats were much wider than their 737 counterparts) and thought I would prefer the Embraer in J too but actually prefer the 737s. The E J seats seem a little narrower and *seem* to have slightly less legroom. The front galley area also seems far more cramped.

That said, the E J seats are much more comfortable than the Y seats. Lots of 'oh, so thats how they do it' comments when people got on the plane and saw the 1-2 layout.
