With those stats, my +1 and swanning_it jnr are likely to get a newie in Mar.

I'm now jealous. I'm really keen to try these out. I've got the impression it'd be almost like a private jet experience up front.

So what's the thoughts? Go for the single seats or the doubles? I'm thinking the singles would really be a DYKWIA approved config! It's a pitty 1A can't swivel around to face 2A (and of course have full curtains separating zoo). What a bonus that would be then!

Some will be pleased to hear that there is now only one E190 flying with the old product, VH-ZPC.

I did hear that there is going to be some little party for the last of the Ejet conversions! It means that other than ATR ops all a/c have full J product to offer. The first of the 737-700's has gone in to have a new FWD galley installed. Two more will be done shortly, all finished by late March. This will enable all 8 J seats on 700's to be marketed. Deseparately needed, was almost comical watching CS's working in those tiny galleys.

Agree - E190s now possibly one of the better narrowbody short-med haul J class products in Australia once VA fix Sabre/OLCI/Website bugs, IFE on VA is now a write-off (its essentially BYO) unless you are on an A330. Cabin crew are good but seem more and more over-worked.

Good news there - especially the update to the B737-700's - that will take a lot of headaches away for J pax for those nasty B737-800 to B737-700 last minute substitutions and make life easier for cabin crew. Better late than never I say.

Excellent news that the upgrades are almost complete. We're flying from Sydney to Ayers Rock next week, seated in 1a and 2a. Fingers crossed it isn't on one of the last remaining E190s which hasn't been upgraded yet.

You do realise that if it is a new business configuration E190 (most likely given that 17 of the 18 E190s have been reconfigured) that seat 1A and 2A are behind eachother? Why wouldn't you pick 1D and 1F for you and your companion? Just curious.

We booked this flight before Christmas and at the time the business class seating configuration was the old premium economy style 2 x 2 setup with 1 seat blocked off, so we weren’t going to be seated next to each other anyway. It was a phone booking and these were the seats allocated to us.
When I rang a few weeks ago to select my seats on a different booking I had made before the Sabre upgrade, I enquired about this flight. Not only could they not tell me whether the plane had been upgraded, but they also couldn’t access the seat plan for business to check the configuration or to see what seats were booked or available. Suggested I try again in a week’s time but I haven’t had chance to ring back. It also doesn’t allow me to change my seats online. I might try and give them a call again,or failing this wait until check-in is open and try then.

Okay - got all that, not surprising news to me! If you do have time you may want to ring them and ask for 1D and 1F to be allocated to you, that way no matter what aircraft they substitute at the last minute (say E190 with J becomes a B737-700 or an B737-800) then you will still be sitting together and not split up. Still does not help you if you are very unlucky and get the one remaining E190 that has the old PE seating though....

(Keep the boarding passes when you do check-in and don't throw them away just in case, and also prepare for a battle to get the SC's and Points awarded to you if its a pre-Sabre booking.)

The J class catering means that 2A may have no choice of meal. FA's generally serve front to back (0/2 choices of meal for me in that seat)
