Cheapest Woolworths Select items I found doing my research 2 weeks sgo for one of my EDR promos were $1 (packet pasta mix amongst other things) and I think $1.06 (1.25l soft drinks). 50 points for $2 is easy. Looks like I'll be loading up as well :)

In the Vic catalogue, the soft drinks are 99c.

From my EDR Promo post:

Done my research.

The cheapest items are individual sachet cat food @ $0.81 each (plenty of options under each) and Dog Food @ $0.85. At least I have dogs that might like something to top off their dry buscuits.

425g tins of fruit (Fruit Salad) and Orange Creams biscuits @ $0.99

Don't know whether they are still valid prices

P.S. Just checked the web site - yes they are!

Agreed oz_mark, no date of beginning or end of promo on your referenced page.

Not quite a pudding guy type of a promo, but I wonder if we get discounts buying in bulk (cartons?)

Good thought. Best to use that as our yardstick.

Maybe buying cartons of cat & dog food and donating to RSPCA? Get a receipt and the cost of the spend is decreased (further) by ones MTR.

So does this mean, 50 points for every 2 select items purchased regardless of the number purchased in a single transaction? So in theory buy 200 select items in one go and receive 5000 points?

Ok one could get the cheapest items but does anybody have recommendations for best select items?

Yes, that is my reading of the T&C's - nicely non-restrictive as they don't mention separate transactions for every 2 items, thus I am considering loading up a trolley with loose or individual items - therefore 100 cat food sachets @ $0.81 ($81) would give 50 x 50 pts (2,500 points).

That was the cheapest item I could find

Can confirm the following:

1. The online taco seasoning special is available in store although my store did not have it advertised on the shelf.
2. Brisbane CBD store is now out of select taco seasoning and is low on microwaveable sauces that are also on special.
3. It's possible to get RSI at self checkouts.

After a chat with markis10, I have rung my accountant and posed the question to her...awaiting her respons and will post

I am also loving my family EDR offers this week:

Master LW - double points over $30 at WOW

No prizes for guessing who is buying what at WOW this week. Not that I expect to buy an enormous amount above $30, but having a bit of a piggyback offer will be even sweeter.

There was an article back in 2005 about donating clothing, I cannot see pet food/food being contextually different:

'Taxpayers may claim a deduction for designer clothing they wear and later give to charity as long as they keep the shop receipt and make the donation within 12 months of their purchase.

Deductions may also be claimed for electronics equipment, food and household items donated to charity.

Tax Office assistant commissioner Brett Peterson said deductions were allowed for goods given to charities registered as a deductible gift recipient. But the item must be donated within 12 months of being purchased or, if it is worth more than $5000, it must be valued by the Tax Office.

The size of the deduction was limited. "You can claim the lesser of what you paid for the property or its market value on the day that you give it away," he said. The onus was on the person making the claim to find out the market value.
