About time there was another 1,000 QFF offer at Cellarmasters, the stocks of white are on the low side, and I still have a $50 off voucher to be used...!

Ha!

Let put things into perspective for a minute ...

One gets 1000pts just for flying QF to Sydney ....

... or 2000pts on a return. You can book that as return day trip today for $198. ;)

Of course you could also book HKG for $808 and earn from 9.1K pts ... [18.2k for WP] ... maybe a weekender.

If you have a few days to spare you can book MEL to LAX rt for $1300 and earn 125.8K [WP 31.6K].

What I am trying to indicate is the most benefit that can be gained from the EDR promotions is bonus points for things you might buy anyway rather than stuff you gonna use in sauce ... which you otherwise would not have purchased.

I agree serfty, however the whites on offer are more than drinkable and based on the last special one could get 2 x 12 cartons delivered for $105 with the 1,000 bonus points, this wine was pretty cheap while most of it was "acceptable" everyday table wine...

While I don't really rave about the wine, it is OK I think and possibly would buy with or without the bonus points (The bonus points just makes it the tipping point, but not by much...!)

The cheap Red wines they offer are pure cough IMHO

Edit: Dont forget the 5% discount available when using a "wish" card too

As always serfty, you make a good point.

Let me rephrase... I would be putting wine into my pasta sauce anyway, so the super-cheap Cellarmasters wines are a tempting alternative to cleanskins which I would buy from Dan Murphy's anyway.

You can get a mix case of low-end Cellarmasters wine for $3-5 a bottle delivered (EDR deal plus voucher). About half of the bottles are "drinkable" as everyday wines, the rest are only good as cooking ingredients.

Of course YMMV.

But I do agree that sometimes it is easy to get carried away with a "bonus" offer which may not really yield much of a benefit.

Spending $50 on something you wouldn't otherwise buy to get a few hundred points is exactly the behaviour this campaign is trying to achieve.

I think we are mostly on the same page.

The whites are hit and miss. The bad ones are normally okay to cook with fish / poultry or in a white wine sauce.

Cheap red tastes horrible and gives me an instant headache! But they can be used in pasta sauce or boeuf à la Bourguignonne. In the past I have been foolish enough to cook half a bottle of quite reasonable mid-range wine. Nowadays it's cleanskins or super cheap Cellarmasters wine.

Maybe, maybe not, I have a dozen Penfolds Rawsons Retreat Chardonnay free from a recent Cellarmasters offer:

2 x Orders $41 each - Cost $82
2 x 30C Fuel Voucher awarded

2 Fill ups of 150L saving 30c (tandem refuel of 2 cars each 80L tanks) $100 saving or 4500 QFF points.

Net gain $18 and a dozen RR Chardonnay or 4500 points for $82 worth of wine (which dan sells for $90).

Sure it takes a bit of mucking around, but nothing good comes easy!

I consumed a 'free' Thomas Hyland this weekend

Don't get me wrong - I have benefited from the cellarmasters promotions quite well! :D

I have not ordered any more since early May as I still have 3 or 4 cases to open (I wonder if each these will have the 2 bottle BYO bags as well).

It become a bit regular - 2 cases of quite a reasonable red (+$200 case) that I hadn't ordered showed up last month - a rather anxious delivery person collected them a few phone calls/days later ...

Have not received a alcohol offer (BWS/WWL/Cellarmasters) since someone questioned on this forum our collective alcohol spends.

Must admit I am off the Cellarmasters offers at present, having got good value out of Epiqure re pricing and points, the fact I have 10 dozen in the garage may also be an issue.

Well played.

As there is only 1 of me, I have got away with some fuel in jerry cans, but never the full 150 litres.

I have that problem as well... Buying faster than you can drink it :p

FWIW - I am running out of cheap cooking wine (hence want a 1000pts offer), but doing fine* with actual drinking wine.

*I may be low on room in the "cellar".

Purchase six deli items and get 200 points.

Hmm, one slice each of six different types of sliced meat?

Ok the challenge for all this week, is to see how little one has to spend to get the 200 points.

I did it for $10 but could've done it a lot cheaper. I chose a couple of slices each of five different meats and one cheese. I then had a very nice french stick made into five little rolls.

When I started picking my selections I tole the woman behind the deli I was getting a few small selections. She said ok and I chose away with no comment at all, very professional. At the end I said to her it was an EDR point bonus and she smiled and I suspect she'd had a few similar transactions and now knew why.

So I guess you don't really like deli items.

How odd.

Received offer on Sunday, I think it was 100 bonus points for $5+ spend on baby care items.

I don't have a baby.

Will double check the offer, but some Johnsons Baby Powder should qualify.
