EDR Targeted Bonus Point Promotions

Hi guys,

Just a quick question re the bonus fuel voucher.

Say hypothetically I have chosen to receive the bonus fuel voucher of 12cents but my EDR preference has been to receive points when I fuel up. When I do eventually use the bonus voucher, will I receive the 12 cents off, or would the voucher then be converted to 6 points per litre?

Appreciate your help.

Regards,
C

Fuel bonus is dictated by preference selected in your EDR account irrespective of what bonus offer you chose

However if you chose "points" as your bonus offer, then points is what thou shall receive...

Edit: Fuel bonus converted to points is 1/2 the stated discount value of the fuel voucher (i.e a 12 cent voucher will reap 6 points per litre)

I don't want to derail the thread, but I must say, I'm pretty suspicious, in a conspiracy theory suspicion sort of way.

The 8c/litre thing finished last week I believe (in Perth anyway). For about 3 weeks now I've been getting really bad economy out my Woolies petrol, up to 1litre/100km worse (umm... about 12-15%).

So, last week, 8c is finished, I fill up today, after seriously considering going to BP and just giving up on fuel FF points, I'm using 4c/litre discount vouchers again today as is normal (2 FF / litre) and what do you know? On the way home, without any effort to drive in a sane and mediocre fashion my economy has shot right back to normal levels.....

What the?

Bad batch of fuel magically coinciding with 8c/ litre discounts?????

Not sure about this but its really noticeable in my local area that when 8c/litre offer is on, Woolworths petrol seems 4c/litre more expensive than other non supermarket backed outlets...

Yes, I noticed that same. More expensive, and, for me at least, less mileage. Very suspicious.

If you want to save more buy your fuel when the temperature is cold rather than when the temperature is hot as you will get more!

I don't know about the cut off days for the 8c offer, in fact I was surprised to get multiple 8c vouchers. However, assuming it has also finished in Adelaide at the same time, I still have valid 8c vouchers. So the bad batch of fuel should end around the same time as the last 8c vouchers expire if they did the conspiracy properly.

I don't know about the bad fuel theory but where I live in WA, the Coles and Woolworths petrol stations are consistently among the cheapest in the greater metro area. In fact, I filled up at 132-8c yesterday, while most of Perth was hiking back to 140ish. And my Coles is still 132... They seem to only hike once a forbight then stay low the rest of the time.

Fuelwatch gives me a fairly good idea of the trends in my area. The prices are fairly stable since the discounts were dropped.

BP (99% of the time) hike the prices on Wednesday, whilst Coles and Woolies follow suit on Thursday. The likes of your Uniteds can vary. There are some stations that always seem to stay low (there are particular Coles and Woolies sites) but in my area it seems the cycle is weekly.

I have thought about using the points for fuel offer but I just can't bring myself to buy petrol from woolies/caltex. BP is definitely the better quality fuel and I'm prepared to forgo discounts/points to buy it. Even with 8c/L offers that on the average fill up would result in 200 points plus credit card points.

I challenge the idea that there is really much, if any, difference between the fuels. There is literally only one or two refineries in each state and the fuel companies cross purchase from each other all the time. ;)

I was thinking the same.

I know that about 10 years ago there were some problems with some batches of Premium fuel, but those days are long gone.

I know there are only a couple of refineries. In my experience BP is better but then it depends what you drive. My car has a high pressure turbo charged engine and it automatically adapts its performance to the quality of fuel put in. A few years ago I got caught short and had to use 95 ULP from caltex and the car was sluggish until I got it out of the system.

Rather than getting into an OT discussion (or any more than I have already), the point I was trying to make was that I would do a lot for the sake of accumulating QFF points and do as much grocery shopping at woolies as I can but there are some limits for me. Fuel is one thing I won't sacrifice for QFF Points. But I see I might be on my own on this point.

There is also a lot of fuel imported as well.

Thermal expansion of gasoline is 0.069% per degree fahrenheit so fill your car when it is cool and you could get say 1% to 5% more on top of your discount voucher depending on the temperature range in your place of purchase. If there is a mathematician out there they would be able to adjust to Celcius.
Now I hope this doesn't cause a stampede at my fuel station early in the morning!

Fuel is stored underground so not as exposed to ambient temperatures.one of the current (?) affairs program recently did some Independent (?) testing and there really wasnt much difference if below BNE.Darwin might be different but when is it a cool day there?

By the way in 1 week will be 12 months since any email from EDR-but I had 2 Flybuys ones this week:cool::lol:.

Drron the difference in Perth is more noticeable because most of our "soil" is silica sand that heats up and we regularly have temperature fluctuations of well over 20 degrees celcius most days of summer. In America they adjust the pumps to allow for the change.
By the way we get no EDR offers but we dont really care.

This may be OT but I believe is worth finishing.

I base my comments upon having worked in the upstream side of a major oil company for 27+ years and knowing how they operate. Where I worked we even bought our diesel from another major as we sold all of ours at a higher price :!:
