EDR Targeted Bonus Point Promotions

A few selfish people have exploited the unlimited promotions to the max and now the rest are suffering.
I wouldn't put it like that. It's like looking at the T&C of lounge entry rules or how to get the most out of a DONE4 or something. You play by the rules.

And it's not as if Woollies is losing anything. They pay for the FF points and sell them on. I'll bet they are still making a nice profit on boxes of catfood or jelly sachets or whatever.

I think that it is good that members spread the word on ways to exploit loopholes or maximise returns or whatever. So long as there's no cheating or illegality or fraud there should be no problem.

And if the market geniuses who thought up the unlimited schemes are astonished that a few people exploited them, then they would have shut them down anyway once they looked at the computer analysis.

I think that EDR are refining their schemes in the light of actual data. I'm not expecting to get a RTW J flight each year from merely doing my regular shopping, but I've certainly gotten a few thousand extra points I wouldn't have otherwise.

Not sure about the recent move towards fuel for points - that involves two lots of purchases for each return in points, and there's only so much petrol I can use anyway.

I just heard a rumour and I state only a rumour WW is looking to dump Qantas FF points
Has anyone heard this as well ?
haven't heard anything... hope not . the extra points are nice to add to the balance and the daughter's use them to keep their accounts current if not flying

Why? A few selfish people have exploited the unlimited promotions to the max and now the rest are suffering.
Would have to suggest that selfish is a definitional thing, some might look at your extensive number of posts in this forum and suggest that you have been among those exploiting the promotions (albeit not the unlimited ones). Must hasten to add, I'm not one of them but can't help but noticing that you are a frequent poster in this particular forum.

Now that is just pure speculation Johnk. Unless your on the WOW promotion/marketing team, you have no way of knowing. The 'stickers promo' could be a new concept/idea that could run for 3 months to judge against previous promotions for all we know.
Of course it is speculation and it is also my opinion.

American Express used to also be quite generous with MR points. More speculation on my part that no one exploited mistake promotions or paid company tax bills on Amex.

Exploiting? Me? Running around to 20+ stores per day? Then I should have 40,000+ QFF points per quarter? My lifetime Everyday Rewards total is nowhere near that amount.

Marketing concepts evolve over time, and different things get tried out. When you see an offer that suits, move in for the kill :)

There's too many factors to know why the point offers have dried up, but it could be as simple as QFF putting the price up!

Petrol seems to be the batteground at the moment. Coles (at least in Victoria) has a general 8c per litre for spending $30 (instead of 4) at the moment. That outdoes my targetted offer from Woolworths....

Today I used my QEDRCC at K-Mart (Coles), tomorrow we use Mrs Shintaro's staff discount card at coles for the weekly shop and pay with the QEDRCC

We will receive a 8 cent fuel voucher for a $30 spend, actually we should get three of these when we break the shopping up into $30 increments..... in the WOW camp, a fuel discount like that will cost ~$100 spend, per voucher that is...! And that's if you are one of the lucky one's with a targeted offer that is...!

How things change in such a short time hey...?

Now I am going to resist opening the silver envelope....., it has not quite come to "breaking the glass" yet, but if things continue as they are then its pretty easy to see that the link between QFF & WOW is wearing thin, or perhaps the QFF link will be for fuel & shopping "standard" purchases only, no bonii going forward perhaps...?

Perhaps there will be a Coles Frequent Flyer partnership after all.....but not with Virgin

Earning QFF points at Coles anyone...?

Seriously though, as my friend cove taught me, its all just a game and we really should just treat it as such, its disappointing that the WOW / EDR / QFF booty has dried up at the moment, but it WILL return when the market forces are in place once again for WOW to again "BUY" our loyalty... with the currency we all love...QFF :p

I guess that's my point, for many "taking maximum advantage of" and "exploiting" are not that different. The question is really whether intent or outcome counts, and for many I think intent is what counts. For many both have been trying to maximise their points, it's just that some have been (much) more effective.

And in my opinion whatever the intent of the individual their actions have spoilt the bonus point offers for the rest.

Anyway what I think is irrelevant and I hope we have the opportunity to earn some more bonus points in future and I hope that next time around they close the promotions so tight that people do not feel the need to run around to 20+ plus stores per day.

Tongue firmly planted in cheek.... Should I feel guilty buying $2.5k in wish cards every month knowing that this activity will lower WOW profits and possibly require a price increase for everybody so that WOW can creep back some margin...? All while I buy more and more wish cards to try and keep in front...

Some time ago it was illegal to restrict trade (was against the law in South Austraila for many years, not sure if its still illegal here now though) I do see your point JohnK, but we need to be very careful when judging others "rights" or "Freedom" to shop as often as they like...this would be clearly wrong for society to go down this path...

Strange concept you have here, you look forward to receiving a target bonus offer, however you hope it is so tight that it restricts your opportunity to use it.... strange logic there

If Woolies had issues with the over subscribed offers as such, the easy way to fix it would have been to stop the unlimited offers, I suspect there is something else at play, especially when you factor in how much it's costing them excluding the promos. I doubt the offers has cost more than what they are making from the auto rewards option, which is their version taking consumers for a ride!

totally agree. not many conglomerates go broke... they tend to know what they are doing

I should be thankful for receiving more fuel voucher offers this week

Mum - Tiered spend offer of 6c/7c/10c fuel discount on $50-$69/$70-$99/$100+ spend
Dad - Tiered canned fish offer of 6c/7c/10c fuel voucher for $10-$14/$15-$19/$20+ spend
Brother - Fresh food offer of 10c fuel voucher for $80+ spend

First one should be achieved easily....

had a nice ~$200 shop at WOW today, 10% off EDR bonus, then used the Wi$h card for the additional bonus

$171 payment for a $200 shopping trip with 150 QFF earn't....not bad at all I guess :D

Roll on tomorrow's offers

Not the same and not the point I was making.

Why strange? I would be quite happy to receive an offer for 100 bonus points for $x spend to be redeemed once only during offer period.

JohnK your lucky you got any offers at all, let alone 3.
There is only so much petrol one can buy. You are quite welcome to my other offers.

As I would also be quite happy to have another unlimited macro offer at 100 QFF per item

We can agree to disagree all day long I guess, but we all playing the same game, you are happy with the game you play, as I am with the game play on my end too, we do not need to really worry how others play the game, since this will do us no good at all. Play by our individual rules and enjoy the "game" is what me thinks...

Totally agree with that! Unless your driving everyday long distances, not many people will be able take all the fuel offers up.

As I have not been receiving any EDR bonus point offers I have switched my shopping to Coles and now have a 14c and 18c off fuels offers! lol

If anyone is grabbing the cellarmasters bonus offer this weekend ,you can save $6.95 by using promo code FINAL4D .
