EK upgrade "Love" on QF / EK coded flights - success rate?

Pretty underwhelming experience on EK DXB-SYD A380 yesterday. Flight oversold in all but F, op-ups done and checked my seat assignment 9A that morning. I selected this seat a couple of months previously on the EK website after booking.
Upon arrival at F check-in I'm handed a BP for 26D.
WTF!!! I realize seat assignments don't form part of the conditions of carriage but seriously ???
Single traveller on revenue J booked as QF codeshare.
I politely declined 26D and showed the agent a screen shot of my selected seat.
A phone call was placed to the Supervisor and fortunately I got my 9A seat back.

I know others have had good experiences with EK but I'm not one of them and I'm reluctant to choose the EK codeshare flights again.

This is just one of the reasons for avoiding EK. Once they shifted me inflight !! I was not happy.

Not good. Especially for a P1.

I also don't love the EK J seats. Quite narrow IMO. Love F though ðŸ

I find the J seats ok for me, I don't like the seats where the console is at the window and the seat's nearest the aisle.
Hence why I selected 9A, good combination of near the front for a night flight, privacy and it's also one of the longer seats. 26D is one of the worst seats on the aircraft, exactly the opposite of everything that 9A has. It's often given out to those op-upped etc.
A revenue J pax with preselection in their chosen seat should never be moved unless for genuine operational reasons.
Clearly there were none here as when I pushed back politely I was moved back to 9A.

I will be interested to hear how things go for QF elites from now on given EK's changes to op-ups. The EK thread on FT is mightily quiet these days. On the flight last night I would have been reasonably high up the order for one under the old rules. Instead I found myself arguing to get the J seat I originally selected.
Interesting times ahead.....

Go get 'em PF! Not good enough.

Out of curiosity, how did you select your seats? We've found that one must do it on the Emirates website, not QF. If you do it on QF they never stick. Seems to be disconnects between the two systems.

I selected them on the EK website as I'm aware of the disconnect your referring to.

There were a few stuff ups along the way with this trip. Failure to re-ticket me on my QF- BA connection after IRROPS. Failure of ability to book Chauffeur drive even when requested by telephone weeks before ( MMB broken ). Eventually took the P1 team the best part of a day to get through to CD in DXB.
The seat shifting was the straw on the camel and I will be providing feedback to QF on all of the above.

Sometimes its better to pay for the fare.
I now have the funds for my F (trip duex) to CHC again.
Will certainly be paying for my seat.
More SYD QFi F lounge pics this time.

Is this directed at any particular recent post AP? Or just a general observation of your upcoming travel plans ? :?:

Generally, Pricess Fiona.
Just now have booked to get 2K on SYD - CHC.
I could have paid the J fare, and see if they would upgrade me, on any of the possible scenarios.
Love my window seating.
QF PNR works on the EK website.
For Aussie_flyer, I will this time down (finish drinking) any drinks offered before takeoff, and not, *(o, we have to take your drink away for take off, but will bring it back to you!)*, which they didn't do on my first flight with EK in Dec last year.
And will try to grasp if its vevue or verve.
For GoldCanyon340, I was offered 1A on the QF website, but wanted 2K, but no go on the QF website to change seats.
But with the QF PNR on the Emirates website, was able to change to 2K.
Have had 1A in the past.

well it's neither vevue or verve, its Veuve and it's champagne and it's not red :-)

Interesting that you and others have made this point as I wasn't aware there was an issue. I was assigned 1A on a 777 operated flight but much prefer 1K. Once a seat alert popped up that 1K had become free then I was straight on the QF website and swapped over. Actually, I did it on the QF app as I was sitting in a pub in Essex at the time.

... and as far as the Veuve / red wine 'situation' goes, I believe Pooch listed the things he'd done on the flight without bullet points. So 'had my first taste of red wine' (or words to that effect) was a separate line item, not a description of the Champagne.

At the risk of going OT, I've also had difficulties with EK seat selection through the QF website not sticking. I find that choosing a seat on the EK website usually resolves this.

You can "think" wherever you wish. The point of AFF is first hand experiences. Being both EK WP and QF WP, that's 'our' experience. When you have been EK WP you can perhaps give us yours rather than just comment?
I didn't receive any special treatment as a Qantas Platinum in economy. No welcome. No Premium lane card. I was just a normal no status anything passenger. I think my comment on your statement regarding better treatment for Qantas Platinums with my experience is justified.

And yes I do understand that sometimes Qantas Platinums may receive special treatment if they are lucky. I didn't expect much in economy but you wouldn't want to go through the treatment that Princess Fiona received. That is extremely poor.

Your comment was regarding different treatment between QF and EK WPs, not just how QF WPs are treated on EK. As I said, when you have been an EK WP then your comment is relavent. Until then, wrt, it's meaningless hearsay.

I'm pretty sure the QF website told me to use the EK website for seat selection.

The seats showing on Qantas are not the seats showing on EK website. Qantas does provide the direct link into the booking on the EK website plus the EK reference number.
