EK upgrade "Love" on QF / EK coded flights - success rate?

Re: Upgrade Fairy today

Yep I'm exactly the same; I usually sleep through take offs, and if I'm tired I sleep through landing, waking up only after touch down. Most people I've ever travelled with continue to curse and swear at me... :-)
I oft find that I am awoken by the actual takeoff out of LAX back to Oz (after having boarded an hour earlier) - generally after a multi segment pointy-end trip from the East coast of the USA (or indeed, the Caribbean) :p

Oh the misery, my heart goes out to you... :-D

Re: Upgrade Fairy today

Such a shame. I was hoping for a J to F upgrade tonight on EK404. Looks quite full due to JQ8 cancellation. Will be my last chance for an upgrade as I very rarely fly EK on Mel-Sin-Mel route. Not sure I like the new upgrade procedure, but thems the breaks.

Re: Upgrade Fairy today

Was hoping at some point due to now having high status I might get an op-up even though on a group booking (so far I've only flown Emirates when travelling with a large group). At least now I know that's highly unlikely to happen.

Most airlines won't opup from a group booking.

Re: Upgrade Fairy today

Indeed. You would think a regular flyer on cheap airfares would be more important than a rare flyer on higher airfares?

That is the age old question. Who is more loyal? Or maybe a better revenue earner? Expensive infrequent flyer or regular cheapie one?

Well that's annoying. I suspect my EK op-up success rate will drop substantially. :(

It will depend on flight loads. Y from Adelaide is always heavily booked esp during school holidays.

But if a flight is fully booked, doesn't that mean a certain proportion of passengers must have booked Flex fares (as they would be the only fares left once the flight is almost full) and therefore would now have priority, even if they don't have any status?

Oh. Spoil sport! :( :p
