On the subject of seat selection ... if the same seats show on the EK website as were selected on the QF website, then all is okay?

This is just one of the reasons for avoiding EK. Once they shifted me inflight !! I was not happy.

Op-upped last night from Y to J on BKK-HKG, very attentive service on board - greeted by the J Lead FA and the Purser which was quite amusing given there was a very famous Hong Kong Actress with her family on board which the FAs made no effort to give special treatment (even though they knew who she was from various tabloid exploits).
Found the lounge and on board hard and soft product on the 380 vastly superior to QF in almost every way.
Not bad considering my QF SG expired on 31/12!
I don't think I could name any actress from HK so it's quite possible the EK hosties didn't know who she was unless they happen to read the same tabloids as you but chose to ignore her.
Doing MEL>DXB>LHR return on 16/1 - 19/1 in Y as a QF WP. EK409 + EK003 then EK006 + EK406. Spewing the first sector if a 777 instead the A380. Might kill my chances of any upgrade love. Will let you know how I go.
IME you're much more likely to get upgrade love on a 777 than an A380 because of the higher capacity on the A380.
But also much nigher business capacity on the A380? Who knows. I'll keep you posted!
On my most recent trips on EK Dec last year, across to NZ there were J and F slots empty.
Was in F to NZ and J back, SYD to CHC, I wasnt upgraded on the return eithef.
QF SG.
The upgrade love seems to have all dried up now.
There are recent posts on FT saying that upgrade priority has been reinstated for platinums.
Not entirely clear if that includes QFFs, but here's hoping.
