Emirates Delays/Cancellations

There's been an EK plane , A380 sitting out on the runway taxi way at MEL for at least the past 20 mins ( now 7:35 19 May). Something might be up?

The only EK on the ground is EK406 DXB-MEL. It arrived early and has disgorged all its freight.
EK404 SIN-MEL is delayed and is on approach
Both earlybird EK flights to DXB and SIN have departed.

Suspect it’s just an aircraft positioning to a remote bay? Both runways are open.

RooFlyer, thanks. As far as I can see, EK406 (A380 A6-EUK) landed at 0519 this morning in MEL (19 May.) The 0500 hours departure has left, and another EK plane is about to land a little late. Keep us up to date if you know more.

Emirates now leave a A380 parked at MEL most of the day - it used to go to AKL and back.

This one was parked way out and away from any of the aprons - it looked at first like it was manoeuvring on the far taxi-way about to take-off, or just landed, but then I realised it was stationary. Might have just been a technical thing for 20 mins or so before departure; I left the lounge before it moved again.

On Monday 1 June 2018, EK419 from SYD to BKK, the 1920 hours, took off at 2153 hours. A380 A6_EUF is the taskmaster with suggested arrival becoming 0408 on Saturday 2, 143 minutes tardy.

The early morning EK409 from MEL is often punctual but on a crisp Saturday 2 June 2018, this timetabled departure of 0500 became an 0614 hours takeoff. A380 A6-EDB should arrive at 1404, 64 late. temperature at 0600 hours in MEL was four degrees Celsius.

B773ER A6-ECC is on EK434, normally from DXB down to BNE.

However on Thursday 29 June 2018, it diverted to MEL - most unusual, but SYD was probably foggy - and arrived in the southern capital at 0630 hours before taking off northbound at 0848 hours. BNE arrival should be at roughly 1053 instead of the usual 0625 hours.

As EK435 does not depart BNE until 2100 hours tonight, it should be unaffected.

UPDATE: EK434 had to hold above the Brisbane Ranges National Park so arrival in BNE is further delayed until about 1117 hours.

EK412, the Saturday 30 June 2018 timetabled 0750 hours SYD - CHC (A380 A6-EOD) took off at 0857 hours. Estimated arrival is 1335 hours, 40 minutes late.

EK404, the Friday 6 July 2240 hours SIN - MEL redeye (A380 A6-EEL) took off at 0012 this morning (Saturday 7) so arrival is expected at 0842 hours, 52 late.

On Thursday 12 July, EK418 from BKK down to SYD (A380 A6-EDN) should arrive at 0851 hours, 71 minutes tardy.

Colleague A6-EEF is on EK412 (morning 0755 hours SYD - CHC) that took off at 0841, so arrival will be about half an hour tardy at 1325.

Thanks to FR24 but one I missed overnight, MH134 from BNE to KUL had to turn back to BNE due to unreliable airspeed and later discovery on the runway of an hydraulic oil leak. AvHerald has details.

As the main BNE runway was closed for 20 minutes, the arriving EK432 (B773 A6-EGY) had to divert to MEL, arriving in the early morning of Thursday 19 July. EK433, the 0235 hours BNE - SIN - DXB was cancelled.

This aircraft remains in MEL as at 1030 as presumably there is no available sufficiently rested crew to take it elsewhere.

The diverted EK432 (see previous post) with B773ER A6-EGY took off from MEL on Thursday 19 July at 1801 hours and should arrive BNE at 19554, although at 1937 hours it was holding above the Lamington National Park.

After a very windy day in Sydney on Friday 20 July 2018 with 1400 hours SYD (airport) gusts of upm to 78kmh and at 1800 hours up to 76kmh, winds had calmed by 2000 hours. The airport had been down to using runway 25 for much of the day and early evening with many flights cancelled and others an hour to three hours late.

EK413 (A380 A6-EET, the 2110 hours SYD - DXB) was in the early stages of taxiing as at 2207 hours.

Sunday 29 July sees EK412, the 1015 hours DXB - SYD that on Saturday should depart at 1015 but that was airborne at 1159 with A380 A6-EEK arriving at 0656 hours, 51 late.

EK404 (SIN to MEL with A6-EDN< also an A380) should arrive at 0849, 59 late.

A380 A6-EDP on EK418 (2000 hours Sunday 29 July BKK down to SYD that was in the sky at 2127) looks to be arriving on Monday 30 at 0850 hours, 70 late. This arrival norrmally sits at SYD all day, so there should not be any consequences for a returning EK flight.
