Emirates Delays/Cancellations

Wednesday 7 December sees EK406 from DXB to MEL arriving at a forecast 0714, 44 minutes behind with A380 A6-EEK. This then forms the 0810 extension to AKL so it should depart at around 0900 hours.

The unattractively timed EK433, the 0235 hours from BNE to SIN was not airborne until 0518. Arrival of B773ER A6-EPD should be at 1030 rather than 0810 hours.

Friday 16 December sees EK418 (A380 A6-EEP), the 1930 hours Thursday 15 BKK - SYD that was airborne at a very late 2010 arriving in SYD at an estimated 1149 instead of 0900 hours - 169 minutes tardy. This flight forms the relatively short TransTasman hop at 1040 hours ex SYD so that should depart today after 1330 hours. Tonight EK419 has to arrive back in SYD ex AKL and then be BKK-bound again: it should be able to depart at about 2200 hours from SYD tonight, all being well with no unforeseen delays in AKL or SYD.

Hope this isn't a pattern. I'm on this flight from Sydney to Bangkok on Dec 22.

Hope this isn't a pattern. I'm on this flight from Sydney to Bangkok on Dec 22.

The good news is that each flight on this route (one per day each way with the flight number) is unrelated. The bad news is that with many flights fully booked at this time of year and some airlines putting on additional flights, it multiplies the chances of things going awry. 450 passengers instead of 400 means a greater chance that more will, to quote AFF member JohnPhelan, be 'at the barrrr' instead of at the gate to catch their flight - so luggage has to be offloaded if it is a prudent carrier. Best of luck!

Dr Ralph may care to watch how EK418 ex DXB and BKK runs on 21 December.

Saturday 17 December has EK404, the 2240 hours Friday 16 SIN to MEL having taken off at 0003 hours on Saturday; arrival of A380 A6-EOK should be at around 0941, 51 minutes late.

EK433 (0235 hours overnight from BNE to SIN on Thursday 22 December) was airborne at 0332; arrival should be around 44 minutes behind schedule at 0854. A6-EBJ is the B773ER.

On Boxing Day EK418, a redeye from BKK to SYD should arrive 61 minutes behind schedule at 1001 hours with A380 A6-EEF. This aircraft normally then proceeds to AKL with a scheduled 1040 hours departure that is likely to become about 1140 this morning.

Fog has recently been affecting DXB.

On Thursday 29 December 2016, EK418, the Wednesday 28 1930 hours BKK - SYD that took off at 0124 on Thursday should arrive at 1409 instead of 0900, 309 minutes late. The 1040 hours from SYD to AKL continuation should depart at about 1540 but if my maths are correct, this may not leave sufficient time for the returning EK419 that originates in AKL to later depart from SYD prior to the 2300 hours curfew. A6-EOD is the A380.

EK434 from DXB to BNE is also very much delayed with A380 A6-EDM likely to arrive at 1021 on Thursday 29 December, rather than 0640 - 221 minutes late. The timetabled 0825 hours BNE - AKL should be able to depart, all being well, at around 1200 'high noon.'

The 0810 hours MEL - AKL, EK406 on Thursday 29 December is also delayed; it had not departed by 1050 hours.

Continuing with Thursday 29 December 2016, EK407 (A380 A6-EDM), the 1850 AKL - MEL took off at 2050, so its arrival is predicted for 2221, 91 minutes late. The scheduled continuation, the 2230 hours MEL - DXB might get away at around midnight if all goes well.

EK408, the scheduled 2320 hours arrival in MEL ex DXB at the shockingly timetabled 0300 (with takeoff at 0411 this morning) is 42 minutes tardy with arrival of B773ER A6-ECL at 0002 hours, just after midnight, as Friday 30 December commences.

Thursday 29 December's EK406 from DXB to MEL (A380 A6-EEL, the 1010 hours) did not take off until 1237. On Friday 30 December it is arriving at 0807, 97 minutes late. Its continuation at a timetabled 0810 hours to AKL should become around an 0945 hours departure.

Obn Friday 30 December, EK433, the 0235 hours from BNE to SIN took off at 0353. B773ER A6-EGU should arrive at about 0858, 38 minutes behind schedule.

EK434, the overnight from DXB to BNE should arrive at roughly 0856 hours, 136 minutes behind schedule with A380 A6-EDA. The 0825 hours BNE - AKL should push back at about 1040 although Google suggests 1100.

The BKK - SYD EK418 (A380 A6-EEF) is two minutes shy of two hours late with predicted arrival at 1058 hours on 30 December. Its timetabled 1040 hours continuation to AKL may become a 1240 or so if all goes swimmingly.

EK404 from SIN to MEL is the timetabled 0850 hours arrival that on 30 December has become an 1115 on blocks estimate. A6-EEX is the A380.

These delays may all be due to the fog that affected DXB for the second consecutive day.

On Friday 30 December, AFF member Flyerqf has described DXB as a 'zoo' as it struggles through a third morning of fog.

EK408, the 0300 hours DXB - MEL took off at 0440; it should arrive at about 0050 hours on Saturday 31 December, 90 minutes behind schedule. A6-EGE is the B773ER.

The identically timed departure to PER, EK420 (A3980 A6-EUL) took off at 0436, just ahead of EK408; EK420 should be at its destination 76 minutes tardy at 1851 tonight.

EK414, the 0155 hours DXB - SYD that featured on a television show due to this flight's need to be in SYD prior to the 2300 hours nightly curfew was airborne from DXB at 0252 on Friday 30 December. Arrival should be at 2312, after curfew and also post its timetabled 2230 hours arrival. One assumes it has a dispensation from the Federal Minister's delegate. Aircraft is A380 A6-EDC.

EK414 landed before curfew. I wouldn't have thought these circumstances would allow for a breach of curfew (approval wouldn't be granted)

Delays in DXB have continued to affected many flights with the Saturday 31 December arrival of EK404 in MEL (ex SIN) having been delayed from 0850 to an expected 1052: A380 A6-EOA is the conveyance.

EK418, the 1040 hours SYD to AKL took off at 1223 with arrival suggested as an hour late at 1655. A380 A6-EEU is the aircraft.

Delays ex DXB continue with EK406, the 31 December 1010 hours DXB - MEL not having become airborne until 1217 in the early afternoon. As a result, A380 A6-EEF should arrive at 0812, 102 minutes behind schedule. The continuation to AKL is meant to depart at 0810 hours but may do so around the 0950 - 1000 mark if all goes acceptably.

The SYD-bound EK412 is similarly afflicted with arrival in SYD likely at approximately 0844, 104 minutes late. This aircraft is A6-EUJ, also an A380.

EK418 from BKK to SYD should have departed at 1930 hours on New Year's Eve but took off at 0025 on New Year's Day, meaning arrival at 1313 this afternoon, 253 minutes behind schedule. Aircraft is A380 A6-EDE. The 1040 hours continuation across the ditch to AKL is projected to become 1440 ex SYD, but 1455 might be a more realistic suggestion.

The 1950 hours mid evening Monday 2 January EK419 from SYD to BKK (A380 A6-EEQ) took off at a very late 2238 so arrival should be at around 0429 on Tuesday 3, 199 minutes tardy.

Tuesday 3 January sees EK406, the 0810 hours from MEL to AKL delayed until about 0855 in its likely departure.

The first of the morning EK415 is usually punctual but on Tuesday 3 January, A380 A6-EEG did not take off until a much delayed 0756 hours: DXB arrival is suggested as 1416, 56 minutes late, showing how much time (about 40 minutes) can often be shaved off this schedule.

EK418 from BKK to SYD (A380 A6-EEH) should arrive at 1006, 66 minutes late, delaying its continuation to AKL that is due out at 1040 until about 1145.
