EMIRATES Lounges in Oz - Current Status

Ha I have the opposite question. Pre Covid QF F pax could use EK lounge at LHR. Is this still available?

It's useful for when CX F lounge is closed.

Do you rate the EK lounge over the QF lounge? I've never been to the EK one (and QF once or twice to see what it was like after it first opened), only ever CX F. QF has a la carte dining, which strikes me as superior to EK. Though I imagine the drinks are better at EK.

Simple question are the rules based on travel class EK/QF lounge access are these still in play?
The access rules don't contradict nor do they override another access rule - it is an OR situation.

If you are compliant with any of the access rules (one or more) then you have access.

You have to ask yourself some questions.
1. Is your choice of airline dependent on whether you can access a lounge. I my case---yes.
2. Are you brave enough to just front up to the lounge and ask for access. I my case---yes.
3. Are you prepared to argue your access rights with the attendant if refused. In my case---No.

I've travelled several times on Emirates metal with a Qantas Y ticket and gained entry to EK lounges. I've accessed the EK lounge in Sydney when on Qantas ticket and Qantas metal.
Just front-up and see what happens.

That is what I am planning on, the class of travel is F however I am choosing to fly on my Skywards number which is the same level a NB and did not know if this would make any difference. From what I understand the EK lounges are closed in MEL so my preference would be to use QF rather than what ever lounge EK is sending PAX to.

Good luck and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Travelling F is the golden ticket.

Yes. Food a wash but drinks better at EK. Obviously for irrops better in QF lounge. Shower much nicer in EK lounge although small. At LHR QF lounge has a couple of quiet rooms that can be booked, but these are in high demand.

CX F better all around but limited hours these days.

Not in BNE. Flying EK F and Skywards Gold. Refused access to the QF lounge as ‘only for EK Plat’. No seats left in Plaza Premium so went and sat by the gate for an hour - quieter and more comfortable.

Sorry to hear that. We should remember that EK is not a One World member so you need at least Gold status to enter the Qantas lounge. I was not aware that there was a Qatas First lounge in Brisbane.

No it was the international business lounge.

That is really strange. I suspect they were incorrect.

Either of EK SG or EK F should be adequate to allow access to a QF International Business lounge access before an EK Flight.

Was it EK431 departing BNE around 9 pm? QF lounge closes at 6:30 pm when it does operate in the afternoon... Interested to know what time the Plaza Premium lounge starts filling up.

Sorry, I was mistaken, you shoud have been given access.
What do we do when faced with refusal?

The QF lounge at BNE closed at around 8.15 pm last night (as the last QF international departure left at 8.30). I was also fairly sure that we should be able to use the QF lounge but the receptionist was having none of it. Interestingly earlier in my trip I was refused access to the QF domestic lounge at BNE (flying QF economy) and told that as EK gold I could only use the QF Club lounge. Again that's not how I read the guidance on the website but polite questioning got me nowhere.

In my view if refusal to admit is questioned and still maintained then there is little point in arguing further as it ruins the experience.

Me too. I was flying QY on an Air NZ ticket and as an Air NZ Gold could only access the domestic Qantas Club, even when I showed my QP card. No access to QJ lounge.

I don't think the EK lounge is open in Sydney. EK fliers are advised to use the Plaza Premier Lounge. Depending on your flying class and loyalty class you could use the Qantas lounges. Which is best?
