I just recently received my new credit card and I want to make a BPAY payment to pay the card off but I can't find the BPAY details anywhere - can someone please let me know what the biller code is, and also the reference that I need to use (I assume just my full card number?). I would give them a call and ask but last time I spend half an hour on hold :P

I'm in a similar situation and haven't yet tried this, but my partner has a non-QF EDM MasterCard. For that card the biller code is 17574 - which is Woolworths Credit Card - and the reference # is the card #. <fingers firmly crossed> Now, logic would dictate that ...;)

I found out that the QF and non-QF cards have different websites and different online banking login areas though, so I'm not 100% sure if they will be the same. I will give them a call tomorrow to find out if no-one else here knows :)

I can confirm the BPAY code is 17574 and the reference number is your card number for the Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card (well it certainly is in my case anyway).

I'm tossing up switching to this card from Westpac Earth Platinum. For $250/yr, Earth Platinum gives me:

  • 1.5 pt/$ on the Amex and 0.5 pt/$ on Mastercard, which works out to 0.77pts/$ for my husband and I overall in practice.
  • The concierge service, which I get good value from (assisting with research on consumer appliances, last-minute hotel bookings, researching holidays).
  • Travel insurance (which saves hassle buying insurance separately when I do travel, though I only go overseas on holidays once every 2 years or so).
  • Purchase insurance (which I've never used, but I'm glad it's there).
  • Car hire excess insurance (I rarely use hire cars privately).
  • Consistently good service.
The Woolworths card would give me, for $89/yr:

  • 1 pt/$ on all purchases.
  • A similar concierge service - perhaps even the same one.
  • Mastercard PayPass, which sounds appealing, and ability to pay at the bowser for petrol.
  • Two less cards cluttering my wallet (Everyday Rewards card and Amex).
  • An initial bonus of 16,000 pts.
  • Unknown service quality.
So if I stick with what I have, I'm essentially paying an extra $160/yr plus around 9000 potential points per yr in exchange for travel and purchase insurance.

I can't make up my mind. What do people think of the trade-off?

It is a bit early for any of us to comment as we all seemed to get billed quickly for the fee of $89 and we need some experience of the workings of the points posting and help desk if we need it.
You won't need to move until the Westpac card renewal is due and you could talk to them about the renewal fee.

I've been reading of other card recipients receiving their first statement with card fee included after only a short time, but I'm still waiting for my first one and no sign of the fee.

Since there is no facility to schedule a BPay payment for the due date (or last business day prior), I don't want to pay a couple of accounts too early if I can delay them to another cycle (every dollar deferred is a fraction of a cent earned !).

Richard.

ps: Is this lack of functionality typical of HSBC, or is the Everyday card site a custom job and could hopefully improve over time ?

I've had this card for about a month now, and I have to say PayPass is extremely underrated.

In particular, been to JB Hi Fi a lot lately, and always had to go to the process with the Amex of 'isthatonthecard...ohareyouawarewehaveasurchargeof1.7percentonamex...isthatasignature...signhere...' etc

Now it's in beep out.

I got 17 days use before my first Statement, so I actually got some good use of this card in the first month. Shows the 16,000 points plus points for my spend, wonder how long they take to be recognized on the qantas system. Next month my tax bills go in this card for some more "extra" points. I think this card is great value for the small $89 annual fee... a $12k spend on this card makes this card "fee free" (ie a 12k spend will typically earn enough ff points to negate the annual fee) this is pretty easy for people like me with PAYG & other tax payments.

Think Wollies have done their homework here and come up with quite a good package compared with other cards available.

Just my 2 cents worth though...! :p

Received first statement with $89.00 fee 5 days after joining.
They did not link my QF number despite it being on the application and 3 phone calls over 8 days.
Spent a least 1.5 hours on the phone and they have awarded no points for over $1500 of purchases.
Already regretting joining up...the help support is useless.

My biggest gripe (so far) is the long delays to actually speak to someone (ie. being on hold). 19 minutes when I phoned to activate and about 17 minutes when I phoned them back because they thought my first transaction was suspicious (a donation to a charity). It certainly made me appreciate that the 8 minute delay to get through to my regular financial institution the week before wasn't so bad and that the few times I've phoned Westpac have normally only been about 1-5 minutes on hold.

The two people I spoke to seemed quite good when I finally got through to them, though I was only confirming a transaction was valid and activating the card plus reducing the credit limit, though they did sound keen to be helpful which was nice.

For those curious about the credit limit (earlier posts), mine was about 15% of gross income, which I reduced since I've got too much credit floating around.

Strange I have received my first statement and PIN but no card yet :?: was two weeks after I applied and about three days after the EDR website showed my card account number. Seems a bit like jumping the gun to me. Also the PIN letter talks about activating the card if you haven't yet, I need to receive the card first.

First statement worth of points hit my QFF on Friday, so around 2 weeks after statement for them to transfer - no 16,000 bonii yet though :(

Farstar,

If you have received a statement and pin but no card this indicates your card has gone missing. I would be ringing Everyday Rewards immediately to report this, and presumably get one card cancelled and the new one issued.

I've also had my statement points transferred to my QFF acount, but like some of you, there is, as yet, no sign at all of the bonus 16,000 points.

Does anyone remember reading anything about when these are supposed to be allocated?

Cheers,

Zoe.
