Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

For those with cards how long do they take to issue? It's over two weeks since I applied and 10 days since I got a 'Welcome to Everyday Rewards' email.

My experience so far:

14 November: Applied on-line for the credit card
6 December: Nothing heard or received, so rang to enquire. Told that a letter was sent
on 1 December
17 December: Still no letter received. Rang again to enquire. Another letter will be sent
24 December: Nothing received as yet

For mine.....after applying I heard nothing for about 6 weeks, then got an ID points check in the mail.....took it in store to complete.....then another 3 weeks wait for the actual card.....should also mention I called during the initial 6 weeks......got no information just an 'oh you should hopefully get something soon'.....

Got my card after about 10 days. No email, no ID check. I have no previous relationship with HSBC, although I do with Woolies.

Absolutely cough credit limit. Only $6000. I got a new Amex a week before with $10,000 and that was what I said I wanted.

I used to be offered stupid limits like $25,000 and have reduced my card limits many times. The absolute maximum I ever have is $10,000, but $6000 is rubbish.

Still $89 for 16,000 points and 1:1 earn is pretty good, so I'll live with it.

Thanks for that -- pretty pathetic performance really. Oh well, I can wait I guess.

Has anoyne used the Concierge Service with this card yet?

Noticed it has a seperate number you need to call, any idea who this call is taken by?

How strict are they with minimum income? My salary is about $40k + $5K overtime. I dont have any motgages or loans.

My actual income is just under $50k and it wouldn't let me past until I put 50k in there so I'll let you know when I get a reply.

I looked at this and cannot see a way forward as I am not actually working :!:

I would guess the same ppl who handle all platinum mastercard concierge requests.

My card details allowed me to register for the platinum benefits site from the main mastercard au site.

Do you mean MasterCard Moments site?

Is there any "real" benefits available or just mastercard promos for pre sale ticketing etc...

Has any one put a chunky tax bill on this card and were points awarded?

Will be doing this next month and would also like to know this too...! I know this was mentioned in the other thread but would paying my PAYG & GST payments (using the ATO payment portal with its CC fee) would the credit card fee be tax deductible...? BTW I am a sole trader conducting business on my ABN but no Pty Ltd...?

In the site Australian Taxation Office Homepage they have a page on credit card fees and behind that there is a summary on their view of what is tax deductible in respect of card payment fees which they refer to as CPF.
You could read up on this or call your accountant/tax agent.
There are lots of circumstances where the BAS credit card payment fee could be tax deductible according to their list.
I hope this helps you.

Thanks cove... here is my 2 cents worth.

The CPF is deductible to the extent that:

you incurred it as a result of paying an income tax liability and you did not borrow money from your card provider to make the payment (My opinion is that untill the statement due date I have not yet borrowed anything...)

you incurred it as a result of paying a goods and services tax, fringe benefits tax, luxury car tax or wine equalisation tax liability, and that liability arose in the course of gaining or producing your assessable income, or in the course of carrying on your business for the purposes of gaining or producing assessable income (yes I have to work to pay tax :))

you incurred it as a result of making PAYG withholding payments where you can claim a deduction for the wages and salaries that gave rise to the withholding obligation (Guess so...)

you incurred it as a result of repaying your student assistance loans and then only to the extent that the expenses you paid using the student assistance loans were themselves deductible (Not Applicable )

you incurred it as a result of repaying your employee’s student assistance loan, the repayment is a fringe benefit, and the employee’s wages are also deductible. (Not Applicable )

So to the best of my knowledge the CPF is deductible... however would be nice to know who out there claims it as a deduction and is a small business / sole trader...

Looking good I would be thinking!
Soon you will be wanting a bigger business.
I actually used the card today at Woolies even though they take Amex. I always like watching how they handle stuff.
Now how do I get the fuel discount out of the loyalty bleep of the card?

Got my second statement today.

Finally got my 16,000 bonus points.

Also, I received the ~950 points for the ~$950 tax bill I paid :)
