Everyday Rewards Targeted Offers

I have received an offer of 400 points ($2) for buying Uncle Tobys Lamington or Oh My Choc muesli bars. I can redeem multiple times. Today they are $3 each. Yesterday they were $2 each so effectively free. I would have happily stocked up today at $2 but now I feel scammed. Offer only valid from today onwards.

Just another of those "what a coincidence" marketing ploys - I think not.

Daughter, dad and myself have received 10c off/litre offer valid until 03 August.

Wife has received offer of 1500 bonus points for $30 spend in store at Caltex valid until 03 August.

Anyone wondering whether W noticed a drop in petrol sales since Coles began offering the 10 cents additional off per litre?

I got the 10c offer as well, but not sure whether I'll use it - I have to use premium unleaded (95) in my car, and haven't bought petrol at Coles Express for months, they've been consistently more expensive (even taking into account this additional 10c off + 4c fuel docket) than the local Woolworths stations (with usual 4c fuel docket).

One of our family members got the 10 cents per litre discount offer but I'm not sure whether we'll use it. The last 2 family members who received 10 cent offers didn't get the discount in the relevant transaction so I'm not sure whether to trust the system again.

I'd just like the offer!

Got a money off offer. Week 1 spend $30 get $5 off, Week 2 spend $40 get $10 off and week 3 spend $50 and get $15 off

Same offer here on 3 of 4 accounts. The account that didn't get the offer is the one used when I rarely (nowdays) go to WW. The other 3 that received the offer I have kept away from WW for the last few months.

Completed this offer on 3 cards.

Week 1 Spend:
$30.55
$30.90
$30.00
Total $91.45 - $15 = $76.45

Week 2
$40.44
$40.00
$41.05
Total $121.49 - $30 = $91.49

Week 3
$51.04
$50.40
$50.90
Total $152.34 - $45 = $107.34

Cost $275.28 (purchased with Egift cards @ 5% off) - $13.76 = $261.52

Value $365.28
Discount $103.76
Net cost $261.52

Will now shelve these 3 cards again and hope for another decent offer.

I have had more problems with bonus points not posting rather then the instant discount not working. However if the system is down, is when I encounter problems with the instant discount.

Having said, the 1500 points for $30 spend provides better value.

I was blocked from activating my offer in Thailand this week. Was able to activate one whilst there in January.

From memory I could also activate these offers in Dec when in Bangkok. Something does appear to have changed.

We got a 2 week offer starting today on the same card which got the "We miss you" offer. The target for the new offer was $110 and the percentage return for the offer was 7%. I have no intention of taking that offer up. Strange how a target can jump from $50 to $110 over the course of a week!

I am tempted to make a formal complaint to the ACCC about this offer.

If you read the T&Cs VERY VERY closely and then spend 5-10 minutes on the internet you are only some the wiser.

You see, it is not available at a Caltex Woolworths outlet with a Star Mart or Star Shop.

So is it possible to search Woolworths' or Caltex's site to find one of these near-mythical beasts? Seemingly not that I could work out. In fact they had the annoying habit of showing W supermarket locations if you were unlucky. Do they exist in a "reasonable' distance from where I live so that the offer could be judged possible of successful use?

We tried a few (all within 10km radius) yesterday as the price had fallen to 114.8 and we had a few errands to do. Put $10 worth in at the 1st, no discount must have been a Star Shop, $10 in at 2nd and with signage of Star Mart was not optimistic and was correct, 3rd no joy and 4th no joy.

Had enough 4 cent discounts on the card that it did not hurt (cost) spreading the purchases 4 ways. Time wise that was 15 or so minutes expended in the quest for honesty...

So how false, misleading and deceptive does an offer have to be when you have no mechanism to find out where you can actually redeem such an offer?

This has to be one of the most blatant 'bait-like advertisements ever.

Use the Woolworths Fuel app.

it's not that hard. the Caltex Woolworths outlets with a Star Mart or Star Shop attached say Star Mart or Star shop on the price board which you can see before you drive in. like this one https://goo.gl/images/zYCtzt

And if you are wanting to find out where there is one WITHOUT a Star shop or Star Mart - how do you find it?

Driving round more than 10km away from where you live hoping to find one does not sound like a reasonable offer and not being able to find one on their respective web sites is a problem as well.

Which is why we find reported here (and elsewhere) that people have expected to get the 10 cents off and not received it.
